How to Use SEO to Maximize Your Traffic

How to Use SEO to Maximize Your Traffic

By Matt Bacak

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a key element to succeeding in internet marketing. SEO is basically altering your webpage to make it more accessible to your consumers by making it more visible to search engines. Generally, when you have a high ranking on the search results pages and when your website shows up on the page more than once, you will receive more visitors. If you haven’t optimized your website for SEO, get started today with these helpful tips.

Are you already using keywords to optimize your page? Including keywords on your page is a vital step to becoming more visible to search engines and customers. The keywords you choose should match up with the content on your page. When selecting keywords to use for your site, you should include keywords that people would use to search for your site. Also, most experts suggest using common misspellings for some of your keywords because not everyone is a good speller and may miss your site because of it. Another way to use keywords to your advantage is to include keywords in your URLs.

Remember when deciding upon the keywords you want to use that it’s very possible to overuse keywords. Keyword density is the percentage of how many times a keyword is used on a webpage out of the total amount of words. If your keyword density is too high, the search engine will conclude that your page is spam. That is the last thing you want to happen so be careful to find the right amount of keywords for your page.

Backlinks are another integral part of search engine optimization. A backlink is a link that links from a webpage to your webpage. Google uses backlinks to determine the relevance of your page by assigning each backlink as a vote towards your page. So, the more backlinks you have, the higher you will be ranked on Google. The important thing to remember about backlinks is that if you are creating fraudulent backlinks to your site, Google will recognize this and gloss over you. Only use legitimate backlinks, such as people putting up your link because they enjoy your content and want to share with their users.

One thing to remember when optimizing your site is user functionality. Your site should be easy to read and easy to navigate. Users want a carefree, simple yet satisfying experience with your website. It can be frustrating when you go to a site and can’t find what you’re looking for. Most people, if they can’t find what they’re looking for right away, will exit out of the site and go look for another. Don’t miss the opportunity to service these people by making your site confusing with too many flashing bells and whistles.

Next, make sure you are updating often. This will only help search engines find you. The more information you have out there to be picked up, the more your business or webpage gets seen by possible customers.

If all else fails, consider contacting an expert in search engine optimization. There are companies and people out there who can help you reach your business goals. Sometimes, the best course of action is to ask someone who knows what you don’t know.

Lastly, be patient. It will take time for the improvements you’ve made to change your rankings in the search engine’s database. Keep working hard and it will come.

3 Main Types of Affiliate Programs

3 Main Types of Affiliate Programs

By Matt Bacak

Affiliate programs can be a great source of revenue for your business. If you already have traffic coming to your website, you can use affiliate programs to increase your sales. It’s as easy as putting up the link that the merchant provides you with and sitting back to enjoy the profits. But before you start out, you need to understand the basics and the different types available to you.

There are three main types of affiliate programs. The first one is called pay per click. Pay per click is when the merchant pays you for every click that you get on your website. The great thing about this type of program is that you get paid even if no one purchases the actual product. However, two down sides to using a pay per click affiliate program is that the amount of money made per click is very small, usually under a dollar and many people abuse this system. If a merchant thinks you are abusing their links by clicking on them yourself, they will not pay you. Also, some pay per click affiliates only pay you if your customer clicks on the second page after they arrive at the affiliate site. This can seriously alter what you get paid so read everything before you decide on a program.

The second type is called pay per lead. A pay per lead program is when a merchant pays you for each person you refer to their page that fills out a form or questionnaire. It could be anything from supplying their name and address, creating an account, downloading a program or even filling out a survey about a product. Then the merchant may use that information or they might sell that information to other companies. It’s important to be honest with your customers and let them know, if you choose this type of program, that their information may be sold. Honesty is paramount to success in any business.

The third type of affiliate program is called pay per sale. In a pay per sale affiliate program, the merchant pays you when one of your customers buys one of the affiliate’s product. Depending on the merchant, you may get paid a percent of the commission or a flat rate fee. So you could get 50% of the price of what your customer purchased or you could get $2 for every sale. It all depends on the merchant. Most pay per sale affiliate programs will be commission based.

When selecting an affiliate program for your website, don’t forget to read all the fine print. Some merchants will offer an increased commission rate done on a sliding scale. Others will limit the amount of money you can make by stopping commissions or reducing the commission rate once you make a certain amount. Now that you know the different types of programs out there, you can choose the program that will best suit you and your website. Hopefully, this will help you choose the program that will aid you in achieving your financial dreams.

The Secret of Succeeding With Email Marketing

The Secret of Succeeding With Email Marketing

By Matt Bacak

Email marketing is a valuable tool utilized by internet marketers everywhere. If you’re just starting out with email marketing, here are some tips to help you along the way.

1. First, know your purpose. Why are you sending out emails? Is it to get sales, generate leads, build relationships or increase traffic to your website? If you don’t have a goal, you’re doomed to fail. When you know the goals you are trying to achieve, you have the necessary information to construct your emails to get the desired results.

2. Create interest. Get your subscribers excited about what you’re offering. This is especially important if you’re trying to get sales, generate leads or increase traffic to a website. Boring emails get deleted.

3. Send to the right audience. If you send emails targeted to a specific group of people, you’ll get results. Know your audience and email them things they care about. For example, don’t send emails about lipstick to men, send it to women!

4. Always answer this question – what’s in it for me? People won’t care about your emails unless you tell them why they should. What is so great about what you’re sending them? What can your product or information do for them? These are questions that you need to answer.

5. K.I.S.S. or Keep It Simple Stupid. Don’t overwhelm your subscribers with lengthy emails. A lengthy email may never get read because people just don’t have the time. Keep your emails short, sweet and to the point.

6. Don’t go over 40-60 characters in width. When your email goes over that amount of characters, it will sometimes cause that scrolling bar at the bottom of the page. People don’t want to have to waste time scrolling over to read the rest of your email. People like to read from top to bottom, not across.

7. Call to action. Always, always, always include a call to action whether it’s clicking on a link or buying a product.

8. Send out your emails in HTML and Plain Text. This is so very important because some email providers don’t allow HTML emails. Imagine putting all that work into sending out an email that someone couldn’t read.

9. Include an unsubscribe link. Don’t forget this! Don’t just forget to include it but make it easy to use. The last thing you want is for people to check your email as spam because they can’t find or use the unsubscribe link.

10. Test it out. Test out your email before sending it to your entire email list. You want to make sure you didn’t make any errors. If you have links in your email, test those.

11. Consider using an autoresponder if you aren’t already. Autoresponders make email marketing very easy. You can set up emails to be sent out at a certain time every day, every other day or every week. There are a lot of options to choose from that make sending out emails a breeze. If you aren’t already utilizing autoresponder, I strongly urge you to sign up for one today.

12. Remove bad email addresses. When you get notification that an email address is no longer active, update your list. Don’t waste your time sending to people who aren’t getting your emails.

13. Send often. Once you’ve compiled your email list, send often to ensure that your subscribers don’t forget you. How often you send is up to you but you want to stay fresh in their minds so keep that in mind when planning.

Don’t let yourself get forgotten.

15 Tips for Creating A Blog

By Matt Bacak

Blogging is a great avenue for making money online if you know how. It’s simple and quick to set up a blog but there are a couple of things you should know before you get started. Below are some tips for creating a blog that will generate revenue for you.

1. Pick a topic you enjoy and know a lot about. Blogging should be fun and it should also be easy. In what area do you have an expertise? Use your expertise to your advantage to create a niche for you and valuable content for your readers.

2. Create unique content. There are millions of blogs out there and several of them will be about the topic you’ve decided to write about on your blog. Make sure your content is unique so people will want to visit your blog specifically instead of the thousands of others available.

3. Keep it simple when choosing the layout and visual appearance of your blog. The most important thing on your blog is the articles you’ve written. Readers don’t come to your site to look at fancy layouts, they come to gobble up the information you’ve provided. Yes, you want to make your blog visibly appealing but you don’t want the background or anything else to overwhelm them. Make sure your font is easily readable and give them lots of white space in between your paragraphs so their eyes can rest. Reading your blog should be an enjoyable experience.

4. Be consistent. Write every day to maximize your exposure and to keep yourself relevant. The more blog posts readers have a chance to look at, the more reason they have to stay on your site.

5. Engage with your readers by responding to their comments. Also, have a contact page where they can contact you if they have questions. You can always use their questions as possible blog posts.

6. Use your own pictures and videos. This maximizes your exposure on the web. When you use your own videos, for instance, you can link your blog on the video site you chose to upload it. Then you can also link to your video site on your blog. Another great thing about using your own media content is that people may use your picture or videos on their blog and link back to you, giving you free exposure.

7. Stuck for new content? Consider using guest bloggers. Guest bloggers are great for building up your network. They can also help bring more people to your site.

8. Guest blog other places to get your name out there and more traffic to your blog.

9. Don’t forget to use social media to promote your blog.

10. Use keywords to make your blog easy to find.

11. Submit your blog to directories.

12. Only advertise products that are relevant to your content. Ask yourself, is the product you’re considering advertising really something that your readers would be interested in?

13. Build an email list from your readers. Have a specific spot dedicated to an opt-in form where people can add in their email address to find out up to date information about your blog and products you endorse.

14. Be in it for them. People will know if you’re just trying to make money. You want to offer good content first and foremost.

15. Be patient. It will take time to build up traffic and followers. Don’t give up!

13 Things to Know About Classified Ads

13 Things to Know About Classified Ads

By Matt Bacak

Everyday I pick the local dailies and go straight to the classifieds just to check on some of the available services I would need instantly. It was very handy when I was looking for a house to move into, an affordable lawyer to help me register a company, help a cousin choose a car, etc. I can go on and on.

What is striking is that for a long time, I did not see how I would use this section of the dailies because of the following limitations:

1. It does not allow photos, and if it does it would be too small.

2. It does not provide many details and would not be suitable for marketing.

3. It is surrounded by a sea of other ads and would not be spotted easily.

4. It gives no space to demonstrate some of the valuable benefits for your products or services.

5. You have no place to place testimonials. These limitations kept me away from using this section. When I learnt of the advantages from a friend, I wondered why I had been so stupid to block my mind. It was not a bad option after all, since:

6. They are inexpensive. This was an advantage I had trouble understanding. Payment is based on the number of words or lines the ad copy has. This only means that you only put what you need and you can run a series of words.

7. The inexpensive nature makes it possible to reach prospects on a daily basis without stressing on you account.

8. I learned that in a growing economy like Kenya, about 2 million readers go to the classified section on a daily basis. Even 1% of the population as clientele in a month would be sufficient to run a business. Am sure bigger economies have bigger audiences.

9. Instead of testing an ad on a big copy and spend hundreds of dollars on it, with the classified, you can run a series of tests to see which aspect of you products would be good for advertising. This would improve your advertising efficiency.

10. If you want to know which title would work best for your products, the classified is the way to go. Ted Nicholas brainstormed on new book titles and narrowed his ideas to few titles. He would then run a classified ad and the one that pulled most response always won his heart and gave him success.

11. Ted Nicholas’ way can be used in testing new concepts in any field. Once you narrow down to a few options, the market can help you know the winner. Follow Ted’s steps and you will be safe.

12. It is great for generating leads. When putting your ad, prompt the reader to contact you via e-mail, phone, etc. Once they do this follow-up with a sales call.

13. The best thing about classifieds and target population is that it can be used locally, regionally or internationally. It is one tool that makes a small business be competitive on a small budget.

15 Tips on How To Start An Internet Business

15 Tips on How To Start An Internet Business

By Matt Bacak

Several years ago, I thought setting up an online business was as easy as having a website online. However, the hiccups I faced made me re-evaluate my perceptions and steps in order to succeed. I came to realize that there are so many things I needed to consider before having my business running efficiently.

Many businesses fail because they fail to plan adequately. In order to plan adequately, you need to know what to plan for and how to plan for them. If you are thinking of starting a business on the internet or wondering why yours is not doing so well, the tips below will be useful.

1. Know your target market. It is very difficult to produce for everyone. Having a definite market will therefore help you make crucial decisions such as localization, designs, etc.

2. Have a budget. You will need professional designers and good online marketers to help you run your business well. Good ones don’t come cheap.

3. In online businesses, the website is a crucial platform. Get this right to ensure usability as well as functionality are not distracted by petty designs.

4. You will need a domain name for your website. Pick one that either describes your business or company.

5. Invest some time and resources on search engine optimization for your website. This will help you get at least 17% of the searches from search engines.

6. In all the marketing you will do, do not ignore pay-per-click ads. PPC generates highly targeted visitors to landing pages and websites.

7. Engage with your audience on social media platforms such as Facebook, Google + and Twitter. They are integral parts in the online marketing business.

8. Work towards building your brand on the internet. Improve your visibility and make sure your business can be easily found on the internet.

9. Make sure that your website is visible at all times. Ensure you have reliable servers to host your website and online business requirements.

10. The maintenance of your website is as important as setting it up. Have a developer to ensure the technical side of the website is well taken care of.

11. When your business is up and running, focus on the process of the business, not the products. Regardless of the niche you are operating in, what is important is the business process.

12. Like what you are dealing with. If you do not like your idea, but feel it can get you a lot of money, most likely it won’t work.

13. If your business does not work, do not struggle too hard in making it work, accept the results and look for something else. Learn when to close a business and when to be persistent.

14. Do not assume that you know everything. Be curious on things you find intriguing in your business.

15. Be disciplined to work towards your goals. Unless you are disciplined, your internet business goals will be useless.

15 Affiliate Program Tips

15 Affiliate Program Tips

By Matt Bacak

When I was first introduced to online marketing, affiliate programs was the bait that got me hooked. I was amazed at how people make $90,000 per month with minimal effort. It was the easiest way to make residual income I ever heard of in my life. Like other starters, I looked forward to making hefty income with only a few referrals a month. If you are in such a state, or think of this, you were not told everything.

Learning the hard way, which includes time and money, I came to learn that making casino jackpot income wasn’t as easy as I heard and had to get some things in place first. Here they are:

Choosing an affiliate program

Choosing the right program is the first step to being closer to making it in affiliate marketing. Here are some tips:

1. Get the niche right. Choose a niche that is related to your online activities, your blogs, etc. No one would be interested in a product or service that has no relations to why they are there.

2. Once you get a niche, look for affiliate programs that exist within that niche and list them down.

3. Look at the commissions they pay. This is why you chose to refer others and get paid. You should target programs that pay not less than 20% commission. It can be as high as 100% but not less than 20.

4. The only reason that would make me accept commissions less than 20% would be the price of the product. If it is more than $300.

5. Look for programs that offer a line of products so that you could earn when your referrals came to buy other products.

6. You would also want to consider the number of tiers you would get in earning commissions. I go for programs that have 2-3 tier commission structures.

7. Customer support is something I would not go without. You wouldn’t want to wait for days just to have solutions that are beyond your reach. Customer support should run 24hrs.

8. Do the programs offer any marketing support? Most of them have pre-written letters, banners, marketing courses, etc, to help their marketers. If this is missing, you will need to be a good marketer.

Affiliate marketing tips

Once you carry out these steps, all you need to do now is to find out how you will send referrals to the links and make money. Here are some tips:

9. Link the products you are promoting inside the contents of your website.

10. Make sure all the product images on your site are clickable and has your affiliate link

11. Product reviews are the best. They have most conversion rates. Make sure you have some on your website.

12. Build a mailing list. It will give you most income. “Money is in the list” – so they say.

13. Holidays are best times for promos. Make use of them and boost your sales.

14. Have an array of products on your site. This increases your chances of making multiple sales of income.

15. Go for inexpensive products but target selling a high quantity of them. This will boost your payout.
