15 Tips to Improve Your Sales Letter

15 Tips to Improve Your Sales Letter

by Matt Bacak

As a marketer knowing how to improve your sales letter is the most valuable resource you will have to propel any business. We are in dynamic markets where consumers are aware of what they want and are very specific about what they want. Technology has also increased the rate at which competitors rise in any market and being an authority is not easy.

This puts us on the edge of having to know to maintain existing clients and getting new ones at the onset of any tiny chance. With the tips below, this monster won’t be so hard to beat.

1. Send it to the right people. Your sales letter must land in the right prospects’ hands. Otherwise your letter won’t even be opened.

2. I once received an envelope with the teaser copy “Now you can get____________ for half-price!” My immediate response was “who told you I wanted 1?!” and put the letter aside. Teasers can be good but they give your letter recipients the wrong incentive to throw away the letter. Keep them off the envelope.

3. Do you know of the surest way to having your sales letter opened? Research and practice have shown that hand writing the name and address of your recipient works better than printing.

4. Continuously personalize your sales letter. Address people with personalized words and personalized issues. Write things they can relate to.

5. Write naturally. Do not pretend or be over friendly. Write it the way you would say it.

6. Always select a single benefit that is above the other benefits and highlight it. This is the principle selling position.

7. Review your headlines and monitor the responses. Ensure that the headline is attention catching and highlights the principle selling position.

8. Take a look at the features of your product and convert them to customers’ benefits in your sales letter.

9. If you have different segments, write different versions of your sales script to your different clients. Ensure that the benefits are distinct in each version.

10. The current generation is a generation that wants things fast. If your sales offer such chances you will be delighted. Include order forms to help collect your orders.

11. Sales letters are about communicating to someone else. The more it looks like a letter written from one person to another, the better it will work. Keep off fancy graphics.

12. Your copy should emphasize the benefits in a way that will create emotional connection with the customers.

13. The first few paragraphs are very important. They should be used to create a desire for the product. You do not need to get to the details at this point.

14. Testimonials are awesome! They sell well. Get believable copies from real people and they will help foster your credibility online and offline.

15. If you get a good response from your mailing list, send repeat email two or three weeks later. It will improve the response.

Best Affiliate Marketing Programs For Beginners – 11 Must Know Tips

Best Affiliate Marketing Programs

For Beginners – 11 Must Know Tips

by Matt Bacak

When one is new to online marketing, (s) he is looking for the best affiliate programs for beginners. However, it is quite hard to figure a way around, as it feels like a first-time kayak in river during the rainy season. Through my experience, I have the opinion that a newbie needs to get the smoothest take off in online marketing, because it is possible.

The affiliate programs I would recommend to a new online marketer should have the best features in the market. These would include: products that convert well, pay sizeable commissions, provide high and lifetime customer value and finally provide resources and tools to promote the products. Let’s take a look at these in detail.

1. When you refer a client and make a sale, you do not want your sale to just end with that one time commission. It will be a jackpot finding one that can benefit you in the long run.

2. Beginners therefore need programs that have lifetime income possibilities. One should therefore look out for programs that have lifetime cookie tracking.

3. You should join a network that will offer you marketing tools. As a newbie, you are probably not good at designing and still know not what sells. Assistance from a network will be valuable.

4. Many affiliate networks provide banners, keywords to target and email files. However, a newbie needs more than these. Find affiliate programs that provide complete turnkey marketing system which have squeeze pages and sales video presentation.

5. Find programs that offer recurring commission on products. This will ensure income growth as each referral will be cumulative income.

6. Find programs that have high customer retention rates. This increases your chances of recurrent income from your referrals.

7. If you can get your hands on high ticket products, it will better than low ticket products.

8. There are programs which would teach you how to be successful in promoting their products as an affiliate, and if you find these you are on a safe track.

9. There are many Gurus out there hyping on cash making IM products. Do not believe everything you hear until you try it and have your conviction. Some have nothing more than a story.

10. For a start, it would not be a good idea to join paid programs to teach you on affiliate marketing, there is a lot of information out there for free that you might never find in many programs you would pay for.

11. Visit the warrior forum and read the war rooms’ threads for at least a month or two before going for any paid programs. All internet marketers have made it their home and you will be glad you did.

Some of the best affiliate programs for newbies and super affiliates that I would recommend include: Daegan Smith, Empower Network, EZ Money Method and Laid off to Paid Off. These programs have the characteristics I have described above. Other networks which are also good are More Niche and Amazon.

15 Online Business Tips You Can’t Ignore

15 Online Business Tips You Can’t Ignore

by Matt Bacak

Several times I have started and stopped businesses online because I thought I can make it without online business tips. I know many are like me, perhaps you are. Thousands of people start online businesses on a daily basis, but very few succeed. We think that online business is simpler than offline business and should be a walk in the park. Don’t be deceived!

The good news is, running a business on the internet is simpler than running it offline; however it’s not as simple as it can be assumed. Since it is a business, it has challenges just like any other business. The better part is that here are guidelines that have been applied in other online businesses and will work for your business too.

1. The first image in your business is your website. Keep it simple, well designed and well organized. Take a look at websites owned by companies you admire, notice how the design and the organization of the site. I admire apple.com.

2. The cheapest and sustainable way to find new visitors to you site is SEO. The more pages you get on the first page of the search engines, the more visitors you get.

3. Each visitor to your site is a potential customer. If any of them contacts you, respond to them promptly.

4. It is expensive getting a new client but it’s cheaper retaining one. Make it an effort to make your customers come back.

5. Engage your visitors. Create content that will evoke a response from your readers. Create social media accounts and keep them active.

6. Set up and maintain a high quality mailing list. Ask your visitors to sign up for your newsletter and give them an incentive when they do.

7. Look for successful online businessmen you admire who can mentor you in your business.

8. Customer service is paramount. Give your customers a reason to come back. Repeat visitors will increase your business tremendously.

9. Add complementary products to yours on the “thank you” page. It will increase the income you get from each client.

10. Find stories from your clients to tell new prospects. It’s not always about your products, it’s about your clients and how their problems will be solved.

11. Be yourself and do not lose it because you are on a virtual platform. You are still interacting with people, who need a human interaction.

12. Do not oversell to your visitors. Many do not like a pushy salesperson in the offline market. They are no different online.

13. Get high quality backlinks to your website. These are links pointing to your site from reputable websites in your niche.

14. Feed your visitors with high quality information. This will help you build a reputation online.

15. Feed your website with original content. You wouldn’t want to handle the consequences of plagiarism.

These can be summarized by:

“Let your originality – your specialness, your brand personality – come through in your online content” Ann Handley &C.C Chapman – Author, Content Rules

17 Article Writing Tips

17 Article Writing Tips

by Matt Bacak

Article writing tips are a necessity in the digital marketing world. Marcus Sheridan, an author at The Sales Lion Blog stressed this at Inbound 2013 by saying “Great content is the best sales tool in the world.” Do not forget that we live in the information age. This means that we consume lots of content. Marketing has gone online and articles have become a powerful tool that you cannot avoid.

Writing articles is not a welcome activity to most of us, especially if you are not a journalist and find yourself not so good at putting content together. However, the pointers below are a good guide in helping you easily write good articles:

1. You need to know that we all start somewhere. No one was born writing, even though some of us find it easy. You should not therefore worry even if you cannot put together an impressive paragraph.

2. Find an inspiration and a way to encourage yourself as you write your articles. You need this before writing becomes a habit.

3. If you are wondering about ideas on writing articles, stick to you line of interest and make your thoughts revolve around your area of interest.

4. People are out to get solutions. Just put down what can be done to solve a challenge and you will attract readers.

Writing is a multi-step process:

5. First, find out what problem your readers would like to solve or the purpose of your writing

6. Think about six or more different ways the problem can be solved.

7. Research and think some more solutions your readers would need.

8. Sleep on it and don’t just write straight away.

9. With enthusiasm, put down your thoughts on paper and write without stopping.

10. Once you are done, put aside the article and take a break. Editing comes later; do not combine it with initial writing. Once you edit, you are done and can say your article is ready.

Other key guidelines to consider include:

11. Make sure your article titles are catchy. More than 60% of your readers will read your content because of the titles.

12. Write concise paragraphs. An average paragraph should have about four lines.

13. When writing wear a writer’s hat. When you are editing, put on a reader’s hat. This will help you proofread your work better.

14. Make it a habit to revisit your articles months later and read them. You will see how you have grown and notice some mistakes. Learn from them; you will be glad you did.

15. Keep your content simple, as short as you can and with lots of information.

16. When writing for online marketing purposes, do not keyword-stuff your articles. Use lots of synonyms instead. Search engines will show your articles love.

17. Readers like lists. Do so as frequent as you find the opportunity.

How To Get Free Legitimate Website Traffic

How To Get Free Legitimate Website Traffic

by Matt Bacak

So you’ve created a website and you aren’t getting any visitors? What should you do? Send traffic to your website! While sending traffic to your website can be expensive, it doesn’t have to be. There are several free methods that you can employ to increase traffic to your website or opt-in page. Most of these options will take time to get the results you are looking for so be patient when starting out. Here are some of the most useful methods to get free traffic.

Social Media Sites – Social media sites are so valuable because they can be very effective in getting information to mass amounts of people. Almost everyone has a Facebook or Twitter account. These sites have millions of users that could potentially be your customers. On your profile pages, include a link to your website. Promote your website in your posts but be careful not to over-promote your website. You do want to drive traffic to your site but you don’t want people to un-follow or un-friend you because they feel like they are being spammed. It’s a fine line between friendship and shameless spamming. Don’t just offer them a chance to view your site but also quality content.

Blogging and Article Writing – Blogging and article writing are both excellent ways to get traffic. Not only can you create your own content for blogging but you can use the blogging platform in other ways to increase traffic. Some great examples of this would be guest blogging and commenting on blogs. Article writing is another way to increase traffic. Always remember when writing articles or blog posts, keep your content unique and relevant. You want people to continue coming to your site even after they’ve found what they were originally searching for. Don’t forget to include a link back to your site in the signature! And write consistently. It won’t matter if you have unique content if you’re not consistently updating.

Forums – A forum is a dedicated space for discussions about a particular subject. Join a forum that deals specifically in your niche. When you post comments or discussion topics in the forum, be sure to include a link to your page. This can also help you find new content for your blog posts or articles. It gives you an opportunity to see what people are talking about in your niche.

Freebies – Who doesn’t like free stuff? Offer a free product, brochure or service to entice people to check out your site. This is a good way to earn customers. Just remember to make the freebie something that is worth people’s attention. Don’t give out junk.

SEO – Search Engine Optimization is one of the best ways to get traffic to your site. Think about how many times you use Google in one week. If you’re like me, you probably use it at least once a day. If people search for your niche but can’t find you, you’re losing money! Make yourself easy to find through optimizing your site for search engines.

11 Tips To Get Repeat Customers

11 Tips To Get Repeat Customers

By Matt Bacak

Business is all about maximizing your profits and one of the best ways to do this is to sell to people who already like you and are already customers of yours! It is far easier and less expensive to sell to the same customers again and again than it is to make a new customer. Repeat customers are also great for advertising for you. If they are happy with you and your product, they’ll usually tell their friends. So, are you utilizing your client base to its fullest potential or are you getting forgotten and left behind for someone who is willing to keep up with their clients?

Here are 11 tips for getting customers to come back to your website:

1. Provide great content with real value. This should be a no brainer. Why would someone choose to come back to your website if you aren’t providing them with interesting and valuable content? They wouldn’t.

2. Update daily. Your content should be fascinating and fresh. I wouldn’t go back to the same page more than once if I knew they weren’t going to update it frequently. Would you?

3. A simple, appealing website. I know I’ve mentioned this before but it bears repeating. Potential customers and returning customers want an interface that is easy to navigate. Your links should be easy to find and working. Check all your links periodically to make sure they are going where they’re supposed to go! Imagine how frustrated you would be if you went to a website hoping to purchase something only to find out you couldn’t get to the purchase page.

4. Stay in contact with your customers. There are several ways to do this. You could send out a weekly newsletter, have a contest, use a comments or forums section on your site and/or use social media to stay in touch with your customers. You could even have a competition where your customers compete for a prize. Do something that makes sense for your website.

5. Always offer excellent customer service. Handle customer complaints efficiently and courteously.

6. Send an email confirmation after they order. I love getting receipts in my email box because if I have any questions or want to update my checkbook, I can look at the email I received. Within the email, you can recommend other products the customer might also enjoy.

7. Allow customers to review the items they purchased. Everyone wants to feel heard. Most people love giving their opinion and take on things.

8. Put social bookmarking buttons on your site so people can stay in touch with you via social media. You can also include buttons that make it easy for them to share a page on your website easily with friends.

9. Consider using a loyalty program where after a set number of purchases, they get a free product or discounted rate. Everyone loves to feel like they are important.

10. Run specials for a limited time.

11. Know your customers. This is the most important thing you can do for your business in general, not just to get repeat customers. Know what they like, what they don’t like and what they’re looking for. You must know who you customers are and what they want to have a thriving business.

Discover The Hidden Power Of Social Bookmarking

Discover The Hidden Power

Of Social Bookmarking

By Matt Bacak

Just what exactly is social bookmarking? Social bookmarking sites like Delicious, Reddit, Digg and StumbleUpon, are online services that let users add, edit and share bookmarks of documents on the web. The wonderful thing about these sites is that you can use them to help your business in several different ways.

If your content is ranked high enough on a social bookmarking site, you can get increased targeted traffic to your website or blog. It is important to remember that your content can get downvoted on some sites, which can hurt your online reputation. The best way to counteract this is to only post relevant and interesting content. Also, by having social bookmaker buttons on your website, you will increase the likelihood that someone will post your content to a social bookmarking site. Some users will even post your content on several bookmarking sites.

Not only will you get traffic from users of the site but you will also get faster indexing from search engines. When you are posted on a social bookmarking site, you have more backlinks to your site. This gives you extra chances to show up on searches. Say hello to free search engine optimization! Any time you have the opportunity to spread your name around the web for free (and legitimately), you should take it. The higher number of quality backlinks, the better your website will rank on search engines.

Take note to tag properly when adding a link to a site. Tagging allows other readers to find your link easily by searching for the relevant key words. Take for instance this article. If I were to upload this article to a social bookmarking site, I would want to add some relevant tags like “internet marketing” and/or “social bookmarking”. This would insure that readers interested in those topics could find my article quickly.

Another important thing to remember when using social bookmarking as an internet marketing strategy is that it’s a bad idea to only post your content to these sites. People will consider you to be a source of spam if you are only promoting yourself and your links. Get engaged and be a participant on all levels of social bookmarking sites but posting not only your own content but other people’s as well. The last thing you want to do is ruin your online reputation by being seen as a spammer.

Now there are a lot of social bookmarking sites out there but some of the most popular include Delicious, Reddit, Digg and StumbleUpon. Delicious has a very simple interface without a lot of fancy bells and whistles but a lot of content. Reddit is a site where you can post anything and then other users will either upvote or downvote the content you’ve posted. Digg is another place to find the most talked about links on the web, where users “digg” or upvote the links they like the best. StumbleUpon has a different twist on the idea by giving you one page at a time that you can either stay on and read more about or swipe to the next article. There are many other social bookmarking sites available to you but these are some of the most prominent.

Lastly, take the time to research each site before deciding whether it would be worth your time to promote your content on this site. You may find that some sites won’t work for your niche but others will. Your target niche audience may not be on one site but on another. Don’t waste your time promoting if your target audience isn’t there!

There are many strategies to making money on the internet, but nothing makes sense unless you have a big list. Email Marketing is the most profitable way to make money on the internet. Get The Results You Want From Your Website

Get The Results You Want From Your Website

By Matt Bacak

Are you not getting the results you want out of your website? Could you unknowingly be turning away potential customers? We’re going to look at a couple of things that could be causing you to lose customers and money. Don’t worry though because once you know what your mistake is, it’s easy to fix it and optimize your website.

When you first land on your website, what do you notice right away? What do you think your customer notices? Some novices when creating their website create a page that instantly attacks the prospect with pop-up ads or a loud playing video they can’t turn off. Other create web pages that take forever to load, giving their potential customers ample time to decide they don’t want to wait and leave to find another website.

Another thing that can turn away people is not having an easy to navigate site. Your website should have clear navigation links that are easy to find. If your reader gets lost, they may decide to leave instead of trying to tangle their way out of the mess. Not only should your links to navigate your page be easy to find but you should also seriously consider never changing the location they’re in. This is for your return readers. If you have people who come to your site regularly, you don’t want to frustrate them by moving the essentials around.

Also, take a look at your content. Is your content relevant and up to date? If your content is old, this could be why people aren’t staying on your website. It’s also a bad idea to use old content with the current date. Readers will find out and this can ruin your reputation. Don’t do it! It’s bad practice.

Now as you look at your website, are you distracted by advertisements like pop-up ads and banners? Is there flashing text and constant interruption? If so, let me ask you… what do you do when you come across a website like this? You probably don’t stay around to see if it has great content. You probably just exit out quickly and find another website, right? Don’t aggravate your readers by using too many advertisements.

Lastly, check your website for spelling, grammatical errors and broken links. No one will take you seriously if your website is full of errors like these that are so easy to fix. It gives the impression that you are too lazy or too stupid to do spell-check. It’s very unprofessional and can easily turn away potential customers.

It’s not hard to change your website to maximize your visitors and money. You only need to look at your website from a new perspective. Take the time to go through your website like you are a new visitor. Go to other websites and see what strikes you as helpful and what strikes you as unappealing. Then you can go back to your website and see if you are doing the same things. Once you’ve done that, go back through your website and look at it through the eyes of someone who has been to your website several times before. Is there anything you can change to make your website even better from this aspect? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to make these changes, just a little time and effort.

Don’t Lose Out On Money By Writing Bad Sales Letters

Don’t Lose Out On Money

By Writing Bad Sales Letters

By Matt Bacak

Are you frustrated with writing sales letters that don’t bring in money? Are you wasting time writing sales letters that don’t grab your reader’s attention? Are you willing to put in the time and effort needed to create a winning sales letter? People just like you are paying top dollar to experts to write copy for them but you don’t have to because we’re going to go over exactly what you need to do to craft the best sales letter possible to increase your profits.

Before you start writing, start researching. Information is powerful! Take the time to search for sales letters that have succeeded in grabbing people’s attention and money. What makes them so special? Did you read it and feel the pull to order the product or service mentioned? What questions did the sales letter answer? Look over each letter and decide what makes it great.

After you’ve looked at a lot of fantastic examples of how a sales letter should look and feel, you’ll want to start researching your target audience. Who are you going to be sending those emails to? It should be a specific group of people. The more specific the group, the better you’ll be able to answer the right questions to get them interested in your product. Who is in your demographic and what is your demographic interested in? How does your target audience speak to each other? These are significant things to consider because this will help you shape your sales letter to entice them. For example, if your target demographic are farmers, you’d want to use their language to sell to them. So you might want to use a laid back speaking style with them versus the style you’d use with accountants.

Next, work on the headline. The headlines are probably the most important part of the sales letter because if no one likes your headline, they aren’t going to read the rest of the copy. Headlines can make or break your sales. Now I know you thought you were done with research but it’s a good idea to research winning headlines. Why do you think they attracted people to buy? Look at lots of headlines and get a feel for what works and what doesn’t.

Now you’re ready to really start writing your sales letter. Here are some questions you want to address. One of the biggest questions you want to answer for your readers is “What’s in it for me?” If you fail to answer this question, they will fail to read any further. The other biggest question you need to answer is “What problem does your product solve?” What will your reader gain by purchasing your product? Why should they care that you’ve sent them an email or flyer?

When you’ve answered those questions, you should explain the features and benefits of the product you’re selling. Features are facts- it’s what the product does or has. For instance, if I’m selling a massaging chair, one of its features might be that it has 3 different massage styles. The benefits are what those 3 different massage styles might do for your back. So a benefit could be that setting 3 helps alleviate lower back pain.

Lastly, include a strong call to action. You’ve explained what makes your product great, why they should care and what’s in it for them and now you need to make sure they call or click and buy what you’re selling. There are lots of different techniques to use when writing a call to action. Use what works. Just don’t let them slip away by not including a strong call to action.

After all this, you have two steps left to go. Once you’ve written your whole sales letter, look back over it and make it as visually appealing as possible. Make sure to include lots of visual space for eyes to rest. And the last step is to split test several versions of your sales letter to make sure you are sending out the best possible one that will get you the best results.
