Of course, failure to do that results in dry spells like these. Here are some essential steps you need to take to start making money online as an affiliate:

Let’s say you want to be an affiliate specifically in the market of health products. You’ll first need to purchase a domain and hosting. Once you’ve purchased your domain name and website hosting, you’ll also require autoresponder software that will allow you to produce a form on your website to capture the names and email addresses of your visitors. This is called an opt-in page and it’s essential to growing your business. Having a list of names and email addresses gives you the flexibility to send an email at any time in the future promoting a new product and hopefully making some sales.

If you want to make good money like the biggest affiliates out there, you’ll need to have what they have and that’s an opt-in list. There are tons of writers eager to write articles for your market.

However, you need to make sure that your articles include the following 5 things:

One, you’re going to need to have the subject line of your article. Two, you’re going to need to have the summary of the article. Three, you’re going to need to produce the content. And you want your content to be about 500 words. The other thing you need to have is your bio also commonly referred to as your resource box on your article. This bio/resource box tells your readers who you are and what you do. This box is often at the end of your article and it is extremely useful because it drives people back to your opt-in page so that people can opt-in.

Now, as soon as they opt-in and enter their name and email address into your form, there’s a function inside your autoresponder program where you can tell them where you want them to go. What I would suggest you doing is automatically directing them to your thank you page. But, instead of it being your regular thank you page that says; “thank you very much for signing up,” say something else like; “thank you for signing up. I’ll email you more info in the coming weeks about xyz. However, if your eager to read more about xyz, I did find something that may be of interest to you…” And then offer your affiliate link for the recommended product. Basically you’re leading them to the sale letter page for that particular affiliate product.

So basically, what we’re doing is you’re having visitors enter your website while at the same time building your list. Not only that, but you’re having them land on the sales letter to the affiliate product that you’re recommending. Basically, you’re building a list while you’re doing affiliate marketing. And that is one of the best ways to begin your cash flow. But one thing to remember is that even if they don’t opt in and they don’t buy immediately, guess what? You’re still building your list. Now when you find another affiliate offer, you can simply send them an email suggesting that product. Once you have a list there is no limit to how much money you make. As long as you properly align your offers and build a relationship with your list, your opportunities are endless!

If you or someone you know is considering running for political office and are considering how you can manage your campaign over the internet, there are a few things that you can consider.

If you have a lot of time before the election, you could start a Google AdWords campaign. What you want to do is drive people to your opt-in page, get their information and then start to build relationships with them. You can start by sending those articles, press releases, newsletters, etc. in an attempt to provide good quality helpful information to your community, regarding your community.

In addition to the opt-in page, I would also really suggest using Twitter. With Twitter, you can identify people in your local geographical area and then you can start following them and get them to follow you. It is a way to start opening the lines of communications and start building relationships with them quicker than any other way. Remember, especially if you’re running for political office, you’ve got to be in constant communication with the people. You want to listen to what they’re doing, give them feedback, talk to them and stuff like that. I mean, it’s just like going around and shaking hands and kissing babies. That’s what you would use Twitter for.

It is also important to have a link on your Twitter page, maybe in your bio section, that will enable people to go back to your opt-in page so you can actually send them email.

If you really want to start building that list, you can target specific cities and areas with pay-per-click on Facebook. Use a Facebook campaign where people can input their zip codes and then have them directed to a specific opt-in page for that region. This is a great way to easily segregate your lists by region, it not only saves you time, it’s instantaneous! Isn’t technology a wonderful tool!

In my honest opinion, I think Obama did a really good job using social media during his campaign, and I will tell you, I think when it comes to running for political office; social media is a great way to interact with the public. Of course, you are still going to have to get out there in the community and talk to people. If you’ve been around the internet long, no doubt you have read somewhere along the way that ‘content is king.’  Google loves it, and content is really what the entire internet is based upon.  People search with keywords, and the results that are displayed are based largely on content.  So, maybe you have written tons of articles and submitted them to a couple of article directories.  You’ve written your sales page.  Now what?  Do you have to write like a madman for the rest of your days?  Not necessarily.  Here are some great ways to use the content you have already written (or had outsourced.)

1.    All those articles you have written?  Re-write them slightly, and post to your blog!  Or, use them as emails in your autoresponder.  Put a few together, and create a special report to give away when someone opts-in to your list.  Change them up, and place them on your website.  Turn them into press releases and add a few stats from Wikipedia.  Google loves sites that are updated regularly, so adding a few new things to your site will draw more visitors.

2.    Written a fantastic sales letter?  Many people have the hardest time deciding what type of content to put in their autoresponder emails.  A great idea is to use ‘chunks’ out of your sales letter.  For example, take a section of your sales page that really compels people to take action, reword it a bit, and put it in an email!  You can do this with the benefits portion of your sales page, as well as testimonials.  Take your sales page, break it up into chunks, and see what you can do with it.  You will be surprised!

Matt Bacak’s Advice on Starting From Scratch

When asked by someone interested in starting an online business what I would do if I were starting from scratch, I thought about it for a minute.  While everyone who begins an online venture makes mistakes, there are a few things I would do if I had to start from the beginning.  What are those things?  Nothing hard – just a few basic marketing principles.  Here are my ideas:

•    Everyone knows what I think about list building – it is THE most important aspect of becoming successful.  With that in mind, I would build lists through other contacts.  I would have other successful marketers in a related niche email their list with my offers, and attempt to get them to sign up on my list.

•    I would stay focused tightly on only one thing, and drive targeted visitors to my opt-in page in order to build my list of subscribers.  Finding ways to drive large amounts of traffic would also be top priority – writing more articles and content to lead visitors to my opt-in page.

•    Sticking to basic internet marketing principles is the key.  There are certain strategies that have always worked, and will continue to be effective in the future.  It’s all about your core foundation – there really are no ‘magic’ secrets that the gurus are hiding from you!

These are the most important things I would do if I had to start all over again.  I urge my readers to learn the basics, focus on one thing, and leave all of the eBooks and reports you may have downloaded on your hard drive.  Ignore them – and get to work!  You can spend a lifetime reading everyone else’s opinions, and in the end it will leave you nowhere if you don’t work hard and stay focused on your goals!

4.    Make a list.  Each evening when you are finished for the day, write down the things you want to accomplish the next day.  Mark this list off as you go, and you will see that you get much more done!  Sometimes, writing things down and having it in front of you makes it easier to do.

Not having a lot of money to start an online business should not limit you to venturing out on your own. Although you do need some money upfront, it’s a fairly small investment that won’t break your bank account. So, what exactly do you need to get your online business up and running fairly quickly?

Well, you’ll need to have your market in mind and plan what you want to have for sale on your website. You also want to have a clear idea as to the information that you’re going to make available on your website. You’ll need to do this prior to purchasing your domain name because you’ll want your domain name to be made up of keywords related to your niche, as well as the products and information your making available on your website. For example, if you sell golf clubs and golf equipment to young rich female players, you may want a name that not only has the keywords of the products you’re selling, but also helps brand your site while targeting your niche audience. You get a sense of who your target market is while knowing what’s offered on your site prior to even going there.

Next you’ll need a hosting account. You need to make your site visible on the web so you’ll need to purchase a monthly hosting package. One word of advice, never build your site or try to make money online using a free hosting account. You’re building a business that could potentially do very well in the future. You don’t want to risk losing everything by hosting it on a free account. Invest a little money monthly because you’re building a business not a hobby site.

Your domain is usually a yearly fee that can be in the price range of $2 – $15 for one year. And hosting can range from $3 up to around $14.99 per month. It really depends on the company you use and what offers and discounts they are making available at any given time. But going with a company is pretty simple especially if you’re just starting out. You can purchase both your domain and monthly hosting package from them.

After you have your domain and hosting packages you can begin to design your website. Of course you can outsource the designing as this will ease the pressures of having to do it yourself. However, if you’re on a tight budget and don’t have the funds to hire someone, you can do it yourself. But that would also mean that you’ll be doing your own copywriting as well. So, look online for some good resources to help you with your sales page. You can also complement that by reading my article titled: Evaluating Your Sales Letter. That will give you a breakdown of the components necessary for writing a good sales letter.
