Which is a better giveaway, a CD or a DVD?

Giving away a free physical product is an excellent way to capture more leads and make more sales. Giving away audio and video footage is a great start to growing your business. Actually, CD and DVD giveaways are pretty good ways to add that personal touch while giving valuable information to your prospect.

Want to know how to use these physical products to grow your business? Take a moment  to let me give you a few tips.

I always use free CDs as a way to get more opt-in sign-ups to my lists. I’ve never actually even done a free DVD personally, so I have no idea if it’s a better choice. However, the free CD giveaways I do offer have been instrumental in growing my business. Just because I have not used DVD giveaways does not mean that you shouldn’t. It would be worth testing. Actually, everything that you do online should be tested, so keep that in mind. However, I’m sure you could do really well with a free DVD giveaway to your list. It doesn’t really matter what you are selling. This is a proven strategy that should be used.

But you need to remember that simply giving away a free CD or DVD is not totally the answer. You need to produce a killer sales letter to really see great results. Think about it. If you’ve got a sales letter that can’t sell, it really doesn’t matter if you offer your prospect a free DVD or a free CD. It’s your sales letter that really matters. If you get a high converting sales letter, you’ve got a winner.

Don’t forget, the key is testing. So, if you can’t decide on whether it’s better to have a CD giveaway or a DVD giveaway this is what you do. Take the free DVD or free CD, you take a DVD, you rip the audio off and put in on a CD (and vice versa) and then you split test those two things. You may find that the DVD out-pulls the CD and then you would know that the DVD is the better choice because it converts better. You’ll only find out through proper testing.

What’s the best entry level price for Clickbank products?

If you’re venturing into the world of information products and are working with sites like Clickbank to sell other peoples products on your website and you’re wondering what entry level price point you should begin at – mid-level price point, or high-level price point, i.e., $25-$50, $50-$250, higher, etc. I can offer you some advice…

Well, to sell on your website, the lower the price point is, the lower the barrier to entry. The lower the price of the product the more sales you’re going to make. So just basically if you’re promoting a product between 25 to 50 bucks, you’ve got to look at the gravity. If the product has a very low gravity, then you might want to avoid selling that product. But if it’s got a really high gravity, it doesn’t matter. What really matters is your offer. Do you have a powerful sales letter? That’s what really makes the products you’re promoting sell.

I think a big mistake people make is backing away from higher ticket items. One of the things people say is, “Oh, this isn’t going to sell because it’s 250 dollars!” This is furthest from the truth. What makes the product sell regardless of whether it’s expensive or not is the right sales letter . Really! You can make anything happen with the right sales perspective. If you want to make a lot of sales, sell the lower ticket item.

Remember; never just throw a bunch of links up on a website. This causes your audience to lose focus. It confuses them because you’re giving them too many choices. This also lowers your conversions. So, have them focus on one thing. A website focused on selling one particular product accompanied by a strong sales letter promoting that product is what makes the sale. It just really matters how well the sales letter of the product that you’re going to buy is.

Don’t forget, funnel your visitors in which a squeeze page and not to a specific site. Once you have captured their name and email address through your squeeze page, you can email them any time promoting your next offer. Drive that traffic to a link, which would be your Clickbank product link.

When they click on the link and are led to a sales page promoting that particular product, that’s what gets sales. That’s going to be the best thing for you to make the most money. But like I said, lower ticket products are going to be the best thing. Make sure they have high gravity. That’s going to be your best answer to make that happen.

If I started over

Someone recently asked me that if I had to build my internet marketing business all over again, what would I do step-by-step to build my business. It’s a really good question and something that I really had to think about.

So, here is what I came up with.  I would probably set up my business a little bit differently. What I mean by that is I don’t think I would personally use my name in any of the marketing. If I would’ve done it at the beginning, I would’ve probably set up a pseudo name, kind of like Mark Twain when he wrote his books. I would come up with something like Mark Twain and be the Mark Twain of the internet for the sole reason that it would help me separate my personal life from my business life a lot better. Trust me, it is great to get your name out there, but the more successful you achieve, the more it starts to weigh on you and the more important it becomes to be able to separate one from the other.

Another thing I would do is come up with my own big ticket product. I’d want to be selling something. This is actually how I started out. I knew I was going to sell something big ticket. I actually got on the phone and I called people, found out exactly what they wanted to buy, and sold it to them. The quickest way to make money is find out what people want and give it to them.

Once I knew that I had a real winner, I set up a squeeze page. The first thing that I always do is set up an opt-in page or a squeeze page and drive traffic to it. That’s what I did at the beginning and that’s what I continue to do now. So, create an opt-in page and drive traffic to it. Get lots of people to sign up. What I would do after that is send emails daily to that list and send them offers and good content. Yes, I would deliver useful content. I would set up an autoresponder sequence that would set up content for them and then I’d have that working on an ongoing basis.

Something else I would do is sell other people’s products to that list at the beginning while I’m getting my products created. I’d find other people’s products every single day. I’d make it one of my habits to be looking for some other affiliate program that I could sign up for and send out to my list to make money from. After I did that, I would then dump money into getting more traffic to my squeeze page, the opt in page, to make things really start happening from there. The more people I get, of course, the more I can market to.

Meanwhile in the background, I’m working on my big ticket product, but not only that, I’m also thinking about working on my continuity. I think it’s really important to be able to build something like a membership site where I’m going to be able to charge people on a monthly basis. That’s kind of like a high level overview.

To summarize step by step, the first thing I would do is go and buy a domain. Then, I would set up an opt-in page.  I would make sure that everything was functioning properly and then get my autoresponder sequence set up. I would go to Google AdWords and set up a new campaign to bring in more traffic. You should consider doing this if you have the budget. It’s a great way to get things moving along fairly quickly. I would then get into a routine of writing and submitting at least one article a day. Those would be the two things that I would really focus on for the traffic side. In the mean time, I’m signing up for other people’s newsletters to see what they’re promoting and if what they’re promoting has an affiliate link and the product matches my niche, I would sign up to those affiliate programs and send out those emails to market whatever product they were selling to my list as well.

Build your list. And if you have to while you’re setting up your products, join other affiliate programs in your niche with products you can market to begin making money. Once you’re product is complete, you’ll already have a list of loyal customers hungry for new products and information you have to offer. It’s really a win-win! Just go for it!

Trials Get the Opt-in!

If you have a product that you are launching and have a good following with an audience of loyal visitors and are fairly well-known in your niche you can expand your existing list fairly quickly. Even if you don’t have a huge following but have marketed your product well with a professional website, offering good information and have a product that feeds the hunger of your audience then you can build a large list quickly. This can be done by offering your product on a trial basis for very little cost to your customer. You are not limited to an online offer either (where you’re only getting the name and email address of your visitor). You can also have your trial offer mailed to your visitor for a small fee like postage. This will get you more information from your list – the address! Now the address is a bonus!

But let me discuss how you need to angle your trial offer and some things you need to consider.

If you’d like to venture this route then consider doing an inexpensive trial offer like a one dollar trial for seven days. That’s something that I’ve found to work really well.  If you offer a dollar to $2.95 for 30 days that’s a great place to start at getting your list to respond and hopefully get sales. Why is this trial offer so low? Well, think about it from this perspective, what is the lowest barrier of entry that you can charge? That will get you the most signups? So, you’ve got to look at what’s the lowest barrier of entry to make your visitor respond and opt-in. But from my experience, that is going to be a dollar. But realize that with the dollar comes the cheap buyer. This may be someone looking to get your product for very little money and then they will not buy at all or if it’s a physical product you mailed to them, they’ll simply return it.

Unfortunately with the $1 trial offer you’re going to get a lot of people opting into your list, but you’re also going to have a pretty good drop-off and cancellation rate because it is a low buyer – they’re getting in for the freebie. So you are going to have to deal with a little bit more customer support with this strategy.

Want a trial offer with less drop-off rate? Consider charging more than $1.  But you’ll need to realise that with this option you’re going to have less people signing up to your list. So, how this higher trial works is, let’s say it was $30 a month. You charge $30 a month for an actual product. If you’re using  forced continuity, for example, what you do is you give them X product – let’s say it’s your home study course – for $30. You charge the same price you’re going to charge on your continuity program. You’re going to have less people leaving you with less attrition if you do it that way. So that is another thing you want to think about when you’re doing your continuity program. The higher they pay for the trial, the fewer drops-off’s you’ll have and vice versa for the $1 trial.

Think about the product you have to offer and the result you want to decide what option is best for you.
