Private Label Rights

Private Label Rights has become a popular way for thousands of web business owners to get their business up and running. Actually, those already established online also use Private Label Rights to expand their already existing business. Let me explain what Private Label Rights entails along with some questions I’ve been commonly asked.

When you purchase the private label rights (PLR) for a particular product, you have the ability to rename the product and put your name on it. You can do whatever you want with it, and it’s all your content.

Can you simply take the e-product, burn CDs and DVDs, and sell it however you want, including on eBay?

The answer is yes and no. When you buy PLR, the creator of that particular PLR product is going to tell you what you can and can’t do with it. A lot of times it’s in the instructions or included in a “Read Me” file. For example it may say something like, “I’ve included the ready to download PDF file and also included an MS Word file for this ebook as your rights allow you to claim yourself as the author, break this content up for use in your newsletter or other ebooks. You can make this a printed book, sell the rights, anything goes. It’s all yours to sell any way you wish”. Everyone has a different one so you want to read to see exactly what your rights are because you don’t want to get in trouble.

Can others also purchase the rights and sell the same products? Or do you become the sole owners of the material?”

No, everybody has the right to buy PLR and do whatever they want with it. However, there are some things you need to know before you go this route. Let’s say the PLR product creator got 1,000 people that buy their PLR product. Guess how many of those people are going to do anything with it? …Maybe only a couple of people. And of those couple of people, who is going to really be able to sell it? Not many. Why? Because they’re lazy and are going to do things wrong and they’re going to try to do things a different way. They may not know any traffic strategies or anything else about marketing online. The reason why most people sell the rights to their product, besides making a lot of money, is because they’re not that good at the marketing angle of it. They’re just better at the content angle of it.

Is there a time limitation on the rights to sell the products?

No, but like I said, it’s all stated within. I’ve never actually seen anything with a time expiration to sell the products, but you do want to make sure that you read the Read Me file or the instructions file for the rights you do have with it. Like I said, everybody has a totally different spin on the way these things work.

What are the risks with regard to copyright infringement?

There are none that I know of because they sold you the rights to it. You pretty much could do whatever you want with it.

If you haven’t already used PLR you should definitely consider it. Even if you want to make changes to the product, you can do it. And just think, it will speed up the process of your product creation because you’ll only be tweaking what’s already been created. It’s a great way to grow your business and leverage your time.

What Stats You Shouldn’t Give Your Potential JV Partners

When working with JV partners it’s essential that they know what type of list you have. They want to know how many people will get getting the email and how many potential sales they could make. Essentially they want to plan ahead and know if something is worth their while or not. So, should you give your conversion numbers to your potential JV partners even if your list is small?

Well, you need to give your potential joint venture partners something to work with, so you are going to have to give them some data. So, after you have already promoted your product to your list, it is fine to give them the rate that you converted at. However, never tell them your list number! You have to be cautious and sometimes you need to look like a big hitter in your marketplace.

In order to avoid having a potential JV partner walk away you could say something like this if they want information on your list…

Say, “… my website’s converting at … my squeeze page is converting at…” 6% of my entire list. These are the numbers you want to make available to your JV partners. Along with that you will also have to do a few other things once you do email to your list.

The first thing is you’re going to have to figure out how much money did you make per open rate? So per each individual that opened your email, how much money can you equate to that? Was it a dollar per open? Was it, $5 per open? Those are more JV terms.

Another thing you’ll have to take a look at is how much will you make per customer per click? “I make $5 a click”. Every person that reads the email I send out, clicks on the link and goes to the particular page that I refer them to. So, that’s $5. Then another thing you want to do is establish the visitor value, which is really pretty much the same thing as click. The visitor value looks at how many visitors you have arriving at your website. To get this value you must divide up how much money that you made amongst all the visitors. That’s the visitor value, the value of each visitor.

This is what you can say… “Hey, look, for every visitor I get to my site, I make $5,” “For every person that clicks on a link in an email, I make $8”. “For every person that opens up the email, I’m making $2”. Give those kinds of numbers out. That’s going to make you look like a real player in the industry and they might just be impressed with what you’re saying because you actually tracked it and showed them the stats that you’ve tracked. This will make your potential JV partner feel as though they need to get onboard with you person because you have a strong list and you understand your market as well as perform thorough tracking. This makes you look like an authority.

Lastly, you want to tell your JV partners, “Hey, look, I’m going to make this as simple as possible because I’m going to give you those same exact emails that I used for my list and got those numbers from so you can send them out, too. These are tried and true, tested, already high converting emails that you can send out.” Once you give this to your JV partner it’s most likely you’ll get their respect and have them coming back to do more JV deals with you. Can you say cha ching! That’s the way to make it happen!

Some good strategies for collecting keywords

Choosing keywords for your website is essential in getting traffic. If you know what your niche audience is looking for and there are certain keywords they are typing into the search engines, you need to know what these keywords are.

The one thing to think about when it comes to looking for keywords is to look at what your competitors are doing. You need to find out who your competitors are, what products are they are selling, what are their companies’ names, website names and addresses etc. You need to dig and research the competition.

Once you understand your competition and what they are offering you need to do the following:

Go to Amazon.com. You want to go to wherever there’s somebody selling massive boatloads of products and services just like yours. Think about what the people are searching for and see what products and services pop up when you go to that location. For example, if you are an author and you wrote a book about personal development, what you want to do is you want to go to Amazon because there’s a lot of books out there about personal development. Go to Amazon.com and type the word in, “personal development.” Find out what every single keyword that pops up on that page is. Amazon will  also tell you related keyword suggestions. You can also go there to find out every single product’s name but also every single author’s name. Find out all of that information and put it on there. Use those as keywords.

It really isn’t that difficult. Basically, Amazon has done all of the work for you. It’s an overlooked goldmine of keyword opportunities that many website owners fail to use. Amazon is a real website, getting real visitors who are actively navigating their site looking for information. All of your research is right there at your fingertips!

You should also look at your at the keywords you are currently using and taking a look at the ones that are giving you the best conversions. Take those words. Find the synonyms, find the antonyms and look for other ways that are used. Try different variations for best results. You don’t necessarily need sophisticated keyword software. It just involves being intuitive and resourceful. Just look for opportunities in overlooked areas that your audience frequents.

Another great tip you can use is to take that keyword that you currently have that’s running really well for you, and throw it into Google’s external keyword selector and then see what words it returns. Take those words and use those in your campaign. There’s tons of different ways. You should never get stuck on thinking about keywords. There are tons of them out there. Think of your visitors. Where do they go to find information on your niche? It’s amazing what you’ll find if you think a bit more. Don’t overlook opportunities that are right under your nose. You can save a bundle and sometimes reap greater rewards than your competitors by taking the time to think outside the box…

There are hidden goldmines everywhere!
