Marketing Strategies I Use When First Setting Up a Squeeze Page

Setting up a squeeze page is relatively simple, but like everything else you won’t be squeezing anyone unless you figure out a way to drive traffic to your squeeze page aka opt-in page.

I’ll share my experience to let you know what has worked well for me…

The first thing I would do when I set up a squeeze page is I would run Google AdWords to it first and nothing else. I would just run my ad to get prospects. Next what I usually do is go buy some links, but other than that, I wouldn’t do anything else. Then once I got everything up and working and start seeing results I would go ahead to do some other marketing in order to grow my list.

Here are some other great sites I use to increase those opting into my squeeze page:

You can buy links from places like LinkAdage.com or Ebay.com. This will give you back links to your site which the search engines like. Getting links from high trafficked quality sites like these are favoured upon by the search engines. So why do I submit to these first? Well, because all I have to do is get my credit card out and it’s fairly simple to set up. Then it’s done, and I don’t have to think or do anything else. The rest of the process is going to take thinking and submitting, and that’s when you focus on doing press releases and articles. The more you advertise who you are and what you do, the more hits you are going to get. So, like I always say, do as many of these things as possible. Try to write an article a day if you can and post it to your blog as well. Blogs are a great way to generate traffic to your site.

From an ease perspective, running Adwords, buying links and sending out press releases are all simple things you can do.

For press releases I just go to PRWeb and I’m done. I highly recommend you also use PRWeb.com as this is one of the top press release sites that has a huge following. The articles are going to take the most amount of time. Now, in the long run, which one’s going to be most important for me? By far it’s the articles.

However, I have to be honest, getting up high in the search engines, to me, really doesn’t mean anything. It’s going to be harder work because there’s a lot of other things you need to do. Generating traffic by using these simple strategies is just one of those things I just do to have fun because the majority of my traffic does not come from my high placements in the search engines. Where most of my people and the results come from is the traffic that I buy.

If you have the budget to purchase your traffic I highly recommend it. It’s a great way to get highly targeted willing-to-buy customers who will most likely be loyal to you for years to come.

What You Need to Know About Tracking Script on Your Website

I’m sure you’ve heard it before. Tracking and testing your website is essential to growing a solid business. But the question still remains for many website owners, how exactly is it done? Is it possible to put a form of tracking code or script on a website?  It is very possible and fairly simple to do as long as you use an easy tracking software program. There are many good ones on the market, but I’ll share a good one that I use that tracks everything I need to build a budding empire.

Basically you can put tracking codes on any or all of your sites. Let me explain how it’s done. Let’s say you’re tracking your sales, tracking clicks or tracking conversions or whatever it is you want to test. Using a tracking software program like HyperTracker is an excellent choice. You can find out more about it at www.HyperTracker.com. They give you everything you need including the exact instructions you’ll need to effectively track and test. They’re going to give you a script you put on the pages of your website that you want to track the exact results for. But they also help you with placement. You’ll be told exactly where to place the script to enable the tracking software to work or shall I say become activated on your site. It’s very straightforward and simple to use if you follow the step by step instructions.

If you’re a bit tight for cash, there is also a free option which is Google Analytics located at http://www.google.com/analytics/. If you’re using something like Google Analytics, it will guide you through the entire process. However, Hyper Tracker is what I use and it’s been incredibly helpful in allowing me to identify weaknesses in my business so that I can improve it. My website conversions have increased and continue to increase as I continue to use the software to test and track various elements of my business.

You’ll notice when you use the different software that it’s going to give you different information or be able to track different things for you. Just follow what they say. So if they tell you to put the tracking code or script on the landing page or after the thank you page after your visitors buy, then you’ll be able to track exact results almost instantly. If it says to put the code on the main page, then the thank you page, then do that. Whatever you’re using just follow the instructions exactly and you’re sure to find the results you’ve been looking for. You’ll be able to improve your conversions and your profits!

Refund Policies – Know What to Offer

Producing an online product is a great way to make money online. It’s fast and there are no shipping costs simply because your product is downloadable. It’s a great selling feature to the customer because they can instantly have access to the information in no time. But what if they are not pleased with your digital product? Should you offer a refund?

Well, if you are selling a digital product online a refund policy is always good to have because it makes your customer feel as though they have nothing to lose. It also makes you look more professional because by offering a refund to unsatisfied customers, it makes you appear confident in the fact that you’re offering a high quality product that you know they’ll like. But of course, you can’t please everyone so a refund policy is always a good option.

So, what do you do if your customer wants a refund? Do they keep the download and you send them the money back or do you ask them to send it back or delete it?

Basically, there’s really no way to have them send it back in any form or fashion. You cannot ask them to delete it. It’s downloaded on their computer. You can’t stop that. Getting software to do that is too big of a customer support issue for you. You simply need a refund policy to establish trust with your buyer and it reinforces your credibility. If you see any digital product sold online there is a refund policy. That’s what you have to compete with. There will always be a similar product available that competes with yours and if you don’t offer a refund policy it’s most likely your potential customer may go elsewhere.

Offering a 60 or a 90-day money back guarantee on your digital products usually increases conversions. The longer you give them, the better your conversion will be. That’s just a side note. But really, you do need to offer refunds to your customers. It also depends on the price.

In any event just give them a regular PDF. And then if they ask for a refund then let it go and accept the loss. As for refunding the payment… You would submit the payment back via the payment method that they paid by. So, if they paid with a check, give their refund back via check. If they paid with Paypal, give it back via Paypal. If they paid with a merchant account, refund them via the merchant account etc. This is a very important point for anybody that’s ever doing any business online or any kind of business for that matter.

Doing this allows you to track back to make sure everything goes through correctly. If they paid you with Paypal or a merchant account, don’t send them a check. Send it back to them the same way they gave it to you, if not, that could cause some issues like I’ve seen in the past. Actually, in my case, somebody charged with their credit card, we sent them a check to refund them, and then they charged back on the credit card and they already got a check from us. So, they actually got double the money back. Of course, we didn’t exactly lose in the end because we showed proof, but problems like this still tie up your money too long. So use the exact payment method that you used in the beginning.

Always offer a refund policy but take into consideration what you need to do for chargebacks to ensure you don’t have a big headache on your hands.

What Stats You Shouldn’t Give Your Potential JV Partners

When working with JV partners it’s essential that they know what type of list you have. They want to know how many people will get getting the email and how many potential sales they could make. Essentially they want to plan ahead and know if something is worth their while or not. So, should you give your conversion numbers to your potential JV partners even if your list is small?

Well, you need to give your potential joint venture partners something to work with, so you are going to have to give them some data. So, after you have already promoted your product to your list, it is fine to give them the rate that you converted at. However, never tell them your list number! You have to be cautious and sometimes you need to look like a big hitter in your marketplace.

In order to avoid having a potential JV partner walk away you could say something like this if they want information on your list…

Say, “… my website’s converting at … my squeeze page is converting at…” 6% of my entire list. These are the numbers you want to make available to your JV partners. Along with that you will also have to do a few other things once you do email to your list.

The first thing is you’re going to have to figure out how much money did you make per open rate? So per each individual that opened your email, how much money can you equate to that? Was it a dollar per open? Was it, $5 per open? Those are more JV terms.

Another thing you’ll have to take a look at is how much will you make per customer per click? “I make $5 a click”. Every person that reads the email I send out, clicks on the link and goes to the particular page that I refer them to. So, that’s $5. Then another thing you want to do is establish the visitor value, which is really pretty much the same thing as click. The visitor value looks at how many visitors you have arriving at your website. To get this value you must divide up how much money that you made amongst all the visitors. That’s the visitor value, the value of each visitor.

This is what you can say… “Hey, look, for every visitor I get to my site, I make $5,” “For every person that clicks on a link in an email, I make $8”. “For every person that opens up the email, I’m making $2”. Give those kinds of numbers out. That’s going to make you look like a real player in the industry and they might just be impressed with what you’re saying because you actually tracked it and showed them the stats that you’ve tracked. This will make your potential JV partner feel as though they need to get onboard with you person because you have a strong list and you understand your market as well as perform thorough tracking. This makes you look like an authority.

Lastly, you want to tell your JV partners, “Hey, look, I’m going to make this as simple as possible because I’m going to give you those same exact emails that I used for my list and got those numbers from so you can send them out, too. These are tried and true, tested, already high converting emails that you can send out.” Once you give this to your JV partner it’s most likely you’ll get their respect and have them coming back to do more JV deals with you. Can you say cha ching! That’s the way to make it happen!
