Although you can market affiliate products without an affiliate marketing website, your chances of success are much higher if you do have one.  Why?  There are many reasons.  When you do not have your own site, you are severely limited as to what you can do to sell the products or services you are an affiliate for.

There is only so much traffic you will receive from placing classified ads and building an opt-in list will more difficult as well without a site to direct them to.  Having your own website is a tremendous boost to your business, will save you a lot of time in the long run, and won’t cost you much at all.

When you don’t have your own website, there are only so many things you can do to market your product.  By having an affiliate marketing website, you can optimize your content so that search engines (and potential customers) can find you.  A website also makes you appear much more professional.

In truth, there aren’t many people who would buy a product or service straight from a classified ad.  Having your own website allows you to discuss the highlights and benefits of your products, write up reviews, and look like a knowledgeable business owner that knows his products well.

If you have your mind made up to earn a living as an affiliate, your best bet is to set up your own site.  While you may get a few of the odd sales here and there from some of the other methods you use, chances are the revenue you make is not going to be enough to sustain you and your family and enable you to quit your day job.

So, is an affiliate marketing website essential?  It is if you really want to generate a lucrative income and establish yourself as an expert in your field.  You can also gear your website towards creating your own unique brand if and when the time comes. You will definitely be glad you did.
