Duplicate Content Revisited

The “issue” of duplicate content is a subject that continually causes controversy in the marketing world, but really it is not something that I believe you need to spend a whole lot of time worrying about. Sure, there are those that say you will get penalized or banned by the search engines and there are others who will actually try to sell you software that will help you rewrite articles into unique content, but I think it is all unnecessary and a waste of time.

Duplicate content is really a Google rule and as far as I know only Google. So, let’s look at this. You submit your article out there on your site. Now, do you think this one article is going to get you high up in the search engines? The answer is no. I mean, it could, if you optimize it properly, if you get links to it, if you do all this work, but most likely you’re not going to get up there anyway. Therefore, why should anyone even care about the duplicate content?

Typically, the next step is you’re going to want to submit your articles to the different ezine locations to get you more exposure and bring traffic back to your site. All of these ezine sites like EzineArticles.com, GoToArticles.com or ArticleMarketer.com just to name a few, have viewers that keep on coming back. Those places also have publishers that visit them frequently to look for content they can take and republish on their sites or print media. So now you not only get the views, but you also get more backlinks from other sites. This will give you a lot more traction and help you to rank better in the search engines.

Since your article is republished by other publishers that means it doesn’t matter how much you change or reword an article because if it is picked up by another publisher you end up with duplicate content out there anyway. So, the answer is, submit your articles to both your own site and then to all the article submission sites. Don’t be so concerned with being penalized because it isn’t going to happen. Focus on placing keywords in an anchor text link to various pages on your site and you’ll welcome even more traffic with very little effort. A little time and commitment will help grow your business. Isn’t it worth it?
