Some good strategies for collecting keywords

Choosing keywords for your website is essential in getting traffic. If you know what your niche audience is looking for and there are certain keywords they are typing into the search engines, you need to know what these keywords are.

The one thing to think about when it comes to looking for keywords is to look at what your competitors are doing. You need to find out who your competitors are, what products are they are selling, what are their companies’ names, website names and addresses etc. You need to dig and research the competition.

Once you understand your competition and what they are offering you need to do the following:

Go to Amazon.com. You want to go to wherever there’s somebody selling massive boatloads of products and services just like yours. Think about what the people are searching for and see what products and services pop up when you go to that location. For example, if you are an author and you wrote a book about personal development, what you want to do is you want to go to Amazon because there’s a lot of books out there about personal development. Go to Amazon.com and type the word in, “personal development.” Find out what every single keyword that pops up on that page is. Amazon will also tell you related keyword suggestions. You can also go there to find out every single product’s name but also every single author’s name. Find out all of that information and put it on there. Use those as keywords.

It really isn’t that difficult. Basically, Amazon has done all of the work for you. It’s an overlooked goldmine of keyword opportunities that many website owners fail to use. Amazon is a real website, getting real visitors who are actively navigating their site looking for information. All of your research is right there at your fingertips!

You should also look at your at the keywords you are currently using and taking a look at the ones that are giving you the best conversions. Take those words. Find the synonyms, find the antonyms and look for other ways that are used. Try different variations for best results. You don’t necessarily need sophisticated keyword software. It just involves being intuitive and resourceful. Just look for opportunities in overlooked areas that your audience frequents.

Another great tip you can use is to take that keyword that you currently have that’s running really well for you, and throw it into Google’s external keyword selector and then see what words it returns. Take those words and use those in your campaign. There’s tons of different ways. You should never get stuck on thinking about keywords. There are tons of them out there. Think of your visitors. Where do they go to find information on your niche? It’s amazing what you’ll find if you think a bit more. Don’t overlook opportunities that are right under your nose. You can save a bundle and sometimes reap greater rewards than your competitors by taking the time to think outside the box…

There are hidden goldmines everywhere!

Subject Lines for Emails

When writing the subject lines for your emails, there are some essential steps to ensure your emails get opened, are not marked as spam and convert well.

There are definitely some no-no’s to look out for when writing subject lines for emails. Some words are more prone than others to get identified by the spam filters. For example the word “free” brings up a red flag with the spam filters. Actually, over abusing the word “free” and other words like “guarantee”, “promoting”, “Viagra” can really draw negative attention to your emails. So, you should stay away from these particular words.

There are a lot of words out there that you have to be very cautious about. You may also want to do a quick search on the internet to see exactly which words are most likely to get you on the spam filters. Now, for me, if I’m going to say “free”, I’m just going to say “free”. I probably should change it on my emails and not use the word “free”. But I know that if people do read it, it’s going to be more likely for them to react, so sometimes I give up the deliverability to get the better reaction from the email.

However, a definite no-no for your email campaigns is to capitalize every single word. Now, other people might do this, but I would suggest you don’t because it is as if you’re screaming at your reader. You want to create the best relationship with them and screaming is not the way to do it.

Another definite no-no is using a subject line that is not going to capture somebody’s attention. The biggest thing you want to do with a subject line is make your reader curious and eager to know what it is you’re talking about. You want to have a strong subject line so that your reader thinks: “What the heck is behind this?” “What do I need to know?”

A lot of times if you see me using certain subject lines again and again and again, there’s a reason for that. It’s because it probably got me a great response and my readers opened up the email because the wording of my subject line drew them in. If your email conversion rate is high, that means you’re doing something right. Your copy is strong and you understand how to make your audience curious with your compelling subject lines. However, never make your headlines too long as it won’t all be seen by the person opening your email. It has to be fairly short and get straight to the point. Remember, in order to get your reader to open your email they need so see your headline. If it’s long and cut off that’s no way to get a high open rate and most likely that will also annoy your reader.

As long as you keep these things in mind when writing your email subject lines, you should find you’ll have some good success with the results. Good luck! Those are some things to really think about.

Matt Bacak

Should you only use text, audio or video testimonials on a squeeze page?

Testimonials are always something I recommend you using to encourage people to make a decision. Whether that decision is to buy product or to join your mailing list, testimonials will help you to convert your visitors.

So, the question is in which form are they most effective? Is one better than another?

Well, I hate to answer these questions this way, but you really have to think about testing. You’ve got to test it to figure out what’s going to work better for you. Now, I know everybody hates that answer and I hate it too, but testing is essential to running any business. You want to make sure you’re not wasting your money or losing money because of a poorly converting site.

Should you only use text testimonials on your squeeze page?

Again, I would test. One thing you want to look at on your squeeze page is does it make sense? Is it going to take away from everything else that’s on your page? Is it going to take away from your headline? So you want to make sure you think about those kinds of things. Now, a lot of people do put testimonials on their squeeze pages. However, if you do this you need to know the proper placement on the page because you can have them in the wrong place which will really hurt your response and conversion rate.

Should you use audio testimonials?

Audio testimonials work great on sales pages. This works well for me. However, on squeeze pages, I typically don’t use testimonials. I quite honestly don’t think I really have ever put video and audio testimonials on squeeze pages.

Which testimonials give you the best conversion ratios?

That’s worth testing – text, audio or video. I really wish I could give you real answers, but I’ve never really personally tested my video testimonials versus my audio testimonials or my text testimonials. I’ve never really split tested any of those. So I’m sorry, but you’re just going to have to test it for yourself.

Again, testing and tracking your marketing results are essential to running a successful website business. Whether you add a new headline, change colors, move your opt-in box – whatever it is that you are doing on your website needs to be tested. You want to make sure your conversion rate is the highest number possible. So, if you decide you want to try audio, video or text testimonials on your website you need to see what converts best with your audience.

Testimonials are a definite must for sales pages but I don’t think they are as necessary on squeeze pages. But if you have a new marketing strategy in mind why not test a testimonial on your squeeze page, you may be surprised by the results!

Matt Bacak

Getting Started

Starting an online business takes some research. Before you do anything you need to first be clear on your niche. If you want me to recommend one for you, I’d suggest getting into the money making niche. Find something about making money and start talking about that. It’s so much easier to sell dollars for dimes than anything else.

Once you’ve chosen your niche, you need to set up a squeeze page that captures the name and email address of your visitor. Now, how do you throw up a squeeze page? Well, you’ve first got to buy a domain and get  hosting. You can use FatJack Hosting for that.  If you have no knowledge in setting up websites or if you don’t want to do it yourself you can hire somebody to do it for you from websites like www.guru.com or www.elance.com. Another option is doing it yourself using tools like Nvu, DreamWeaver, FrontPage, or WebExpressions from Microsoft. Once you have one of these programs installed on your computer,  go online to see examples of websites with squeeze pages on them and try to imitate it.

The next thing you’ve got to get is an autoresponder installed on your hosting. Log in to your autoresponder software platform and create your own autoresponder. I use AutoresponderPlus and highly recommend it.

So, how do you set up an autoresponder sequence of messages? It’s a fairly simple process. Just follow the instructions laid out for you on their site. When you create an autoresponder, it’s going to create a form. Go inside the autoresponder and copy the form code so that you can also use it inside your squeeze page website. The reason for this is so that your visitors will be able to sign up and you will be able to capture their information so that you can market to them.

The next thing is finding products to promote. In the “making money” niche, there are tons of great affiliate products you can sell to your list. Once you’ve posted your products on you site, save your website on your computer so you have a backup of it and then go up to the top of the software where it says: “Open site.”

The hosting account should give you your Cpanel username and password where you can input the domain name of your website as well as log you into the server. The public html folder inside Cpanel is where you’re going to drag and drop everything. After you do that the site will now be live.

Once that’s all set up, now you can begin working on your autoresponder messages.

In the first message of your autoresponder sequence, you’ll probably want to send a welcome email. Perhaps something like; “Welcome, thanks very much for signing up…” For your second message, you’ll want to probably send them straight to your affiliate page. This will help you set up a good foundation and start training your list members to buy.

A quick way to make you money is go to Clickbank.com and sign up for a related affiliate program in your niche with high gravity. High gravity means the product is selling well overall. Once you find something with high gravity, take that product and log back into your autoresponder and change the redirect so that when people opt in, the success/confirmation page will be a new page and the link you’d want to put there is a link to your affiliate program.

To start driving traffic, I would go to Google.com/ads and set up an AdWords account. In addition to this you can start writing articles to get you more established. Good luck! By taking action you’re sure to grow your business fairly quickly and make some money while you’re  at it!
