Understanding CTR For Various Aspects of Your Online Business – Part 2

In part one I discussed what a good click-through-rate aka CTR was as well as the importance of writing a good Google AdWords campaign. Now I’d like to discuss more about click through rates and other visitor variables you need to be aware of in order to step up your game. So, let’s begin…

How high can your CTR be? Well, if you’ve created a very good ad that compels your reader to click you can get upwards of 30% CTR. You could even see upwards of even higher than that. But if you’re getting between 10 and 30%, you’re doing pretty well. Visitor to sell rate, has too many variables in there that’s really hard for me to provide you with analysis on this. But really, I wouldn’t worry about my visitor to sell rate. All I’d care about is the CTR or click through rate. Remember I said keeping it simple earlier? It’s best to just think about it this way. Instead of worrying about those specific numbers, what you want to look at is solely the CTR. That’s all you’re doing. You’re split testing to write a better ad, because the better your ad is written, the better results you’re going to get in rankings. And not only the better your rankings, the more people you’ll have visiting your website. So that’s all you want to really look.

Now, all you want to do is you just want to beat whatever that number is. That’s your only thing. I mean, if you’re getting a CTR of 10%, then your goal is to beat that number. If you’re getting 30%, your goal is to beat that number and aim for something higher. You also want to make slight modifications to that page to make that happen. Your visitor to sell rate, is basically the same thing.

Let’s change the perspective up a bit in it’s simplest form to ensure you understand this concept…

In the end that’s all you should care about. I don’t care about any of this other stuff. All I care about is, if I spend a dollar, how long does it take to make my dollar back? Think of it that way. That’s really what you care about. If you spend a dollar today, how fast are you getting that dollar back? And if that’s what you’re thinking about, then that’s what matters. In terms of this relationship to your advertising, well, you increase your ad or you increase your opt-in, you increase your visitor per sale. But one of those factors – you can focus on one because the more people that actually go to the page, the more people that’ll opt in and the more people that will buy. But if you just focus on leaving your CTR alone and didn’t focus on anything else, you’ll be able to compile better results and learn to take better actions simply because you’re focused on one area.

So, step up your game! Learn about ad writing and split testing thoroughly. Not only will you beat out your competition, but you’ll make more money.
