Outsourcing – The Best and Worst Places to Outsource

Outsourcing is one of the best ways to build your business without having to put in countless hours of work. It’s great to be able to use experts already specialized in various tasks to complete them for you. All you have to do is delegate, however, what if you want to use overseas sources for your outsourcing. Should you post an ad on Craigslist and hire experts from other countries bidding on the job? Should you hire an expert from countries like China, India, Taiwan, and other countries?

I was recently asked this exact question from a student of mine who did this. Although many bidding for the job are more affordable from these countries, the question that may cross your mind is can they be trusted with passwords and server information? What are my thoughts on this? Well, personally, I would not use Craigslist to find people, especially when building a new relationship. You’re building a new relationship with someone and understandably cannot trust them right away. You’re basically taking a huge risk if you don’t know them and are freely giving them access to personalized information. I would suggest that you hire an expert who already has an established relationship with you so that you can be at ease.

So, what is the main reason why I would not recommend outsourcing to sites like Craigslist? Well, there’s no middle man who can oversee and document the situation of managing the project. I guarantee you, there are various sites that can provide you with better experts in an environment that looks after your best interests.

Using sites like Elance or Scriptlance will give you the opportunity to find very reasonable, affordable prices, especially if you use the right wording for your project posting ad. These sites are incredibly professional and useful for all of your outsourcing needs. I highly recommend these websites since I’ve used them for years. I can trust the people on there. The reason I can trust the people on these sites is because they live off feedback. So if they screw me over, which they’re not going to, typically – I have a means to dispute it in a controlled environment. I’ve only had one person in eight years ever screw me over on a job and it was over an article. I’m not saying it’s impossible to get screwed by sites like Elance or Scriptlance. However, you lessen your chances of having it occur.

But the best part about working with sites like these is that you’ve got feedback and your provider can get kicked off the forum or get such a bad rating that it may be difficult for them to find more work so these workers usually work hard to please you — the employer so to speak. If they have a bad rating they can lose a lot of money and they will do anything in their power to avoid this from happening.

So what wording should you use? The trick to it is definitely in you’re posting. Say something like; “This is a simple and easy task for anyone that knows what they’re doing.” By saying something along those lines, you’ll get the most qualified person at a reasonable price. The main thing is that you’ve got the third party like Scriptlance or Elance who are going to be the middle man. They basically manage the whole payment process to ensure both parties are protected. They also manage disputes if you are in that unfortunate circumstance. But even if you are, they are pretty good at ensuring your needs are met. You can always go to them if you’re having issues or problems and let them know. They can deal with it and handle it because that’s what their team does.
