How to Get Followers on Twitter

Having a large twitter following is something that really help a business to garner more sales, get a larger audience for your messages and generally have better conversations. That being said, there are a few things you could do to get followers on twitter. They include:

1. Encourage retweeting

In order to get followers, you have to explain to what retweeting is to your existing followers and encourage them to do it. This will allow your tweets to be seen by more people and therefore increase the probability of getting more followers. You should also use services like retweetist to see whether your efforts are paying off.

2. Reveal details
You should reveal as much as possible on your twitter bio in order to get followers. A detailed bio will cause people to follow you because they’ll be able to associate your tweets with a real person. This is because people use social media for the conversation with other people meaning that they won’t add a user with a black bio page.

3. Market your account
You have to sensitize people on the existence of your twitter account in order to get followers. For instance, if you are a public speaker, you can tell the audience that you are on Twitter, display your twitter URL in your presentation, include it in your business card etc. You can also market your account on other social media sites, blogs, forums etc. Another viable option is buying followers from high traffic sites. This usually causes you to get followers interested in you, your business etc.

4. Join the conversation
You have to participate in all relevant conversations in order to get followers. Use the trending topics section to find interesting conversations and get involved. Witty and intelligent responses will get people to look at your profile and hopefully follow you. In order to get followers in that topic, you should also incorporate hash tags in all your tweets. This allows you to get followers looking for information, friendship etc.

5. Use media
Another good way to get followers in twitter is to use media. You find that interesting pictures get retweeted a lot because they offer a break from all the written content. This means that you should have your smartphone with you at all times in order to take and upload interesting pictures.

6. Contests
This is a very good way to get followers because it takes advantage of peoples’ need to acquire free things. Holding a simple contest that asks people to retweet a link or suggest your twitter page in return for a suitable prize will allow you to enjoy a sudden increase in followers. These prizes can range from gift cards to computers.

7. Follow other people
Look for people with many twitter followers and follow them. This will allow you to find out why they have such a large following and incorporate this information into your own endeavors. For instance, you can learn how to create conversation, stir controversy without annoying people etc.

In a nutshell, getting a large twitter following may require you to invest a lot of time and money but the benefits will be well worth the efforts.

Make a Sincere Effort to Network and Develop Business Relationships

The way that you can make money with Twitter is an indirect way. By making friends with common interest and actually interacting with these friends, you may be able to get more traffic to your site.

Let’s say you have a blog about weight loss and you promote a weight loss affiliate product. By making friends with fellow weight loss bloggers and fitness experts, you may just be able to get some backlinks from these other bloggers that can give you a higher search engine ranking for your website and send some more traffic to your site. This is one completely indirect way to make money with Twitter.

Twitter and other social media sites like Facebook may be good for a few dollars here and there, but they are prominently for making connections and friends online. In no way should you solely rely on social media promotion as your only affiliate marketing strategy.

Get Rich Quick in Affiliate Marketing and Get Real

Realize that affiliate marketing success is not going to happen overnight. It is going to take time and hard work to become successful and make money. Some people get started in Internet Marketing with unrealistic expectations that they will be making thousands of dollars a month within the first 3 or 4 months. If you are willing to learn, work hard and smart, and stick with it, you can make the money you want from affiliate marketing.

Believe in What You Sell and It will Sell Itself

Be sure that you select your affiliate products that you are going to endorse and try to sell carefully. This means that you have tried the products and that you have trust in them. If you try to sell affiliate products that you have never used, you may be trying to sell something that is not so great and won’t give you the conversions that you need. You may also have a hard time promoting a product if you aren’t interested in it and don’t exactly know how it works.

Stay up-to-date on your products. If a seller releases a new version of the product that you are trying to sell, then be sure that you are aware of it and make your readers aware of it as well. Staying up-to-date and on top of the latest trends can help you have affiliate marketing success and make more money.

Offer your list something for free.

Even when your list caters to an emotion or interest that your prospect has already shown affinity for, it’s still hard to convince people to do something in exchange for nothing.  That’s why free report is the most commonly used list building tactic today.

But you don’t have to use reports exclusively.  In fact, in some niches it’s really not recommended at all!  Quick software downloads (games, screensavers, and personal organizers), discount codes, and electronic ‘coupons’ are all great incentives to get people to join your list.

Don’t sell with every message.

No one reminds their boss every day that they’ll get paid at the end of the week.  You don’t take an opportunity every day to remind your family of when your birthday is (at least I hope you don’t).  And you shouldn’t snag every single opportunity you have, to try and sell to your list.

If you do, you’re likely to end up with a pretty unresponsive list–if you end up with any list at all.

Everyone loves to buy–but nobody likes to be sold!  Even on internet marketing lists, where anyone with any sense expects to be sold to, most list owners don’t try and make a sale with every single email.

Trying to sell with every mail will make your readers ad-blind at best.  At worst, they’ll resent what you’re doing and opt out of your list.  Keep in mind that they joined in order to gain useful information for themselves–not to make you rich.  Give them that information!

Send a link with your welcome messages.

You probably already know that you should send a direct message to every new follower you get (and if you didn’t–you do now!).  But most marketers, for some reason, neglect to put a link in this message.

This link doesn’t have to be for a paid product.  In fact, it probably shouldn’t be.

What kind of link should you send?  That all depends on your niche.  In the IM niche, you shouldn’t get any complaints if you send a link to a valuable report or some other helpful product that others can download.

In other niches, you might simply want to encourage your followers to check out your blog, website, or even your Facebook profile.  Pay attention to how low- or high-key your niche acts on Twitter, and you’ll have a good idea what to send.

Invest in some auto-posting software.

Sites like Postlater.com and Socialoomph.com allow you to post to Twitter even when you’re asleep!  (You can also have custom “dripped content” posting software made for you at rentacoder.com.  You really don’t need this kind of solution until you have plenty of twitter accounts however.

Combine this with a newsfeed Tweeting service like Twitterfeed, and you have a winning combination.  Your newsfeed service will keep you listed in Twitter’s search engine and attract new followers, while your auto-posting software will take care of the actual monetization.
