You have done some writing and you had hoped of one day getting your stuff published. However, finding a publisher that wants to publish your writings can be a long and adventurous task. First you have to find a publisher that is even willing to read it and then you are at their mercy while they decide whether or not they think it will sell. The other alternative is to publish the books yourself, but you quickly find out that the costs for doing so are beyond your budget. So, what do you do? I personally think that producing an ebook version and then publishing it afterward, is a great thing to do. It’s best to start out this way so that you don’t invest a ton of money into getting it published. After all, you want to see if it sells first, right! Producing a digital version is the best way to do it simply because it’s inexpensive and can be published with the click of a button.

Of course, the way you market your new brilliant book, will have a huge impact on your earnings, but at least you can see how well it sells or could sell based on your efforts. By publishing your book digitally first, you can learn a lot from the process, while getting it done a lot quicker. You also could potentially make a lot more money than you ever could from the publishing route. You’ll be able to keep all of the profits by selling it on your own. And just think, you could also get others to sell it who have related sites, and you could give them a percentage of the sale! So, you’ll have an entire army working for you and no extra cost to you. If you create a good enough buzz and market it well, you could make a bundle.

However, once you get it going, I would still publish the hard cover as well, for the simple reason that it’s going to open up more avenues and channels of distribution than you could ever get with an ebook. If you open the window of opportunity, you’ll be amazed at what can happen.

The Importance of Indexing & Google Alerts

Keeping track of what is being said about you online is a good way to stay ahead of the game. It allows you to monitor and do damage control if need be. But it also allows you to keep abreast of what your competition is doing, while also giving you the ability to be able to gain more traffic by bringing your page content further up in the search engines.

An easy and free tool that you can use to keep informed about anything written about you or your business is to subscribe to Google Alerts. You simply need to type in the search term that you want Google to alert you about. So, in my case if I wanted to know who was writing about me, I’d list my website URL there or spell it out. I’d also use my full name as a search term, to see what’s also written about me online. Google Alerts also allows you to choose various parameters; like what you’re searching for, whether it is blogs, videos, websites etc., or you can choose “comprehensive” so that they send you alerts on all of the above. You’re also able to choose how often you want the alert emailed to you. You can choose whether you want it on a daily or monthly basis etc. If you haven’t tried out this tool, it’s highly recommended.

But let me explain how I use it. Typically what will happen is… Let’s just say that a link shows up in my alert and it’s one of my articles that just got picked up by Google. What I’ll do is I’ll take that article that was picked up by Google, and then I will go to a social networking site, and then I’ll just post there and post my link. This will allow me to get more links to my site, which will hopefully pull the site further up in the search engines. It’s easy using this method because the site has already been indexed. If it’s not indexed and it doesn’t get an alert, then I will never know about it. And typically, the likelihood of it moving up isn’t going to happen, unless bookmarks are in there.

Use Google Alerts to keep in touch with what’s going on in your industry, as well as snooping on your market. You’ll be able to see what they are saying about you and about the various happenings in your industry. It’s a simple way to do your research and see some interesting results.

If you are using Google AdWords to market your website I commend you. Google has a ton of opportunities available for online businesses. Their platform not only allows you to carefully create specific ads suited to the needs of your market, but it also allows you to quickly reach your market with just a bit of effort. So, if you are considering using Google AdWords located at Google.com/ads, there are some tips I’d like to share with you. It’s not a very difficult process, you just need to know ahead of time the needs of your market as well as what you have available to them.

Looking even further at the paid side, the right-hand side of Google, those are paid ads. Those are ads that show up for products you want to pitch to your market based upon keyword terms that they enter in the search engine. So, let’s say someone typed in “weight loss” and you had a website selling weight loss pills, if you entered that same term “weight loss” into your ad, anyone who searched for that same term in the Google search engine would see your ad appear on the right hand side. How do you place an ad there? Consider signing up for a Google AdWords account. Basically what you’re going to do is go to Google AdWords website located at Google.com/ads. What you’re going to do is you’re going to walk step-by-step through the whole process that they lay out for you. It’s fairly simple. For example, they’ll ask you specific targeted questions to ensure your ad is targeted appropriately to your needs. AdWords asks various things like; “Hey, where would you like your ads to appear? What country?” They’ll say, “Hey, what ad would you like to appear?” “Hey, what keywords would you like, when somebody searches for those keywords, how much money would you like to spend if somebody clicks on these words, clicks on your ad?” And that’s kind of what happens on the paid side.

Then what it does is it’ll determine your ranking by two different variables. One, what keyword and how competitive that keyword is, and two, how much you’re willing to pay. The more money you pay, the better results a lot of times, or the better your ad is, the better you’re going to pay.

If you put in the time and energy whether you’re using paid or free search, you should have no problem gaining some good traffic numbers which will help propel your business to the next level.

How Google Keywords Work For Searches

If you want to know how you can use Google keywords for search as well as understand how it all works, take note of what I’m about to say here. If you have a website online and are using keyword targeting for search engine optimization, good for you! You’re on the right track. But if you’re new to all of this, let me explain how Google keywords for search work.

There are really two sides to Google, if you really look at it. One, side is the free side and the other is the paid side. If you take a look at the paid side which translates into running Google AdWords ads which are the ads on the right side of the search page of Google, you’ll see related ads based on your search. So, basically, those are ads that were paid for with the purpose of getting traffic to a specific website. Basically, what happens is when somebody searches for a certain keyword, related ads will show up. And these ads actually used the same keyword in their ad so that’s why the ad appeared on the right hand side when the visitor entered that particular keyword in the search box. Now onto the other side of Google, the free side…

If you take a look at the free side of Google, basically we can typically call this the SEO or the free search side. A lot of times this free side is referred to as organic search. Basically what that means is you’re optimizing your site for specific keywords or for specific words. So, what happens is when somebody searches for those particular keywords, and those same keywords are optimized well on your website, your site will actually get a higher rank or placement in the search engines. So you’ve got to find what words actually work best. When somebody’s searching online, what words would you like to have your site appear for? Using free search engine optimization is one of the most inexpensive ways to gain traffic to your website.

One major tip is to use keyword software to target keywords that are in demand from your market. Note that some keywords are more popular than others – usually the main keywords. So, for example if you were in the niche of weight loss, that keyword “weight loss” will be very competitive. You can do search engine optimization for that term, but since it’s overly competitive; it may be harder to rank for that term. A great strategy is to use long tail keywords. Long tail keywords refer to words which are 3 or more words. So instead of optimizing your page for the overly competitive term “weight loss”, which may be difficult to rank well for, consider optimizing pages for three or more keywords like “weight loss vitamin” or “weight loss vitamin for women”. You’ll be amazed at how well you can rank for such terms since there are quite a few people entering those terms in the search box.

If you want to gain more traffic to your website think outside the box. Google is a vast search engine that can give you a ton of opportunities to rank well for your market. Whether free or paid, you can do very well if you take the time to carefully look at your market and the capabilities of the Google platform.

What Do I Do If I Am Banned From Google?

If you’ve been an active user of Google AdWords pay-per-click advertising and have recently been banned, don’t get too stressed out yet and don’t think it’s over for your internet business. There is hope for you.

One of my students recently told me that they had become a victim of the Google slap and have been banned from using Google AdWords. They thought that a certain technique that they were using that was also being used by other internet gurus caused the ban. They weren’t 100% certain that this was the cause or if it was because they were directing traffic directly to their squeeze page, but they suspected it was the technique they were using. They were not sure what to do next since Google is one of the top search engines around and everyone knows Google has a huge following. You could lose a lot of traffic if Google does not like your site. So, if Google has turned their back on you, can you open another account? What alternatives are there for you in this situation?

The best thing to do if you’ve been banned by Google AdWords is this…

First off, I’d like to say that it’s highly unlikely that Google has banned them simply for driving traffic to their squeeze page. That’s highly unlikely. But let me be very clear, I’ve taught that strategy for a long time and there’s probably been one person who has been slapped and they basically called Google and they talked to them personally. Then all the sudden Google took a look at their site or something like that (whatever the situation was), and then they decided nothing was wrong. I don’t know what they were doing, but they blamed it on that certain technique, which I don’t think was the cause. Most likely they did something else. Actually, I’m certain the internet technique being referred to is fine. I’ve been doing it for years and I haven’t had any issues, and I’m still doing it with no problems whatsoever.

The best advice I can give anyone who feels they have received the Google slap is to contact Google directly. What you need to say to them is first apologize and say something like;”Hey, you know, I’m sorry. I don’t know where I made a mistake, but please let me know what it is so that I can fix it really quickly, so I can continue using your service.” If you say something like this it should work in reactivating your account and having your website searched by Google. When you let them know that you want to continue using their service, this flatters them. But not only that, they also want to keep their customers, so it works well on both sides. By saying this, I’m not going to say 100% that they’ll let you off the hook, but I do think that that’s the best way to approach this situation.
