Articles are used by webmasters and writers as the main mode of conveying a message. To be more effective, webmasters and writers have to submit them to article directories. There are many reasons for this. They include:

1. Attract more visitors to your site or article – Most of these directories have very high traffic. Article submissions on a popular topic will result in more visitors to your website. Submit your article to as many article directories as you can for free high quality traffic.

2. SEO – A back link from a high traffic, content-rich site can do a wonders for your site in terms of SEO. Search engines value such links. When you submit your article to a directory, include a link to your site. Your site will move up the SERPs with time.

3. Reputation – A well written article will get people interested in you as a writer and webmaster. They will start looking for similar content either from your website or from your other article submissions. Make sure all articles are well researched and thought out and have a unique twist to set yourself apart.

4. Creating a stir – Your article submissions may be on a topic that affects many people. You may want many people to read your views but you may not have a highly trafficked site. You could choose to submit your article in a reputable article directory and benefit from their reputation and high search engine rankings.

5. Practice – Frequent article submissions will make you a better writer and webmaster. This is because there are strict guidelines to be adhered to before an article can be published. The more you write on a topic following these guidelines, the better you become. Also, you will want to make sure that your articles get the most visitors so you will do proper research and find a twist to set your work apart. The result is success in your writing career.

6. Branding – If you own a business or a brand, numerous article submissions in various article directories is a very effective branding strategy. The success of a brand depends on reach. The more people associate your brand with usefulness the more it will be accepted. Including your brand with well researched content is the way to go. Avoid stolen or spam content. This should be used in tandem with other aspects like social media advertising.

7. Resource management – Article submissions to the most reputable article directories is free. Finding creative ways to profit from a free resource will teach you the importance of resource management. You will thus be a better webmaster or business person as you will have gained a skill on how to properly manage available resources for the highest profit.

8. Valuable experience – Using article directories on a regular basis will help you understand how the internet works. You will understand which topics garner most interest and profits and which don’t. You will understand how best to market your website and expertise. This will take time but the results will be worth the efforts.

Finally, make sure you submit your article only on reputable sites for the greatest effect.

Having said all that, there is a good, legitimate piece of software that I use and recommend called Article Submitter Pro. So, rather than spending countless hours submitting my articles to the myriad of submission sites out there, I simply plug them into Article Submitter Pro and it takes care of the rest.

Article Submitter Pro is really easy to use. You first have to go to the various sites you want to submit to, apply and get your log in details. The software memorizes your usernames and passwords and logs you into each one. So, you may say, “Okay, I want to submit to these 1,000 locations.” Well, it’ll take you to the one location, it’ll pre-populate the page, and then all you have to do is hit the submit button. Then it’ll auto-fill in all the information where it needs to go. You’ll look over the auto-fill information to make sure that everything is correct and then you push submit. It’ll then take you to the next one, log you in and perform the same functions until it has completed the task. It is completely automated!

However, you should make sure you don’t go overboard and submit too many articles to too many sites in too short a time frame. You want to make it feel as natural as possible to the search engines. For example, we only submit two to three articles a day in my office. We don’t submit 500 articles, even though I have 500 articles. See, 500 articles will last me 250 days because we’re submitting two to three every single day. You want to make it a habit and be as consistent as possible when you’re submitting your articles and not send them out there all at once.

So, you take one article. You load it into the software. Let’s say you have a thousand locations. Article Submission Pro logs you into a thousand locations, pre-populates a list and you push submit. Then you go to the next one, push submit… Go to the next one, push submit. Go to the next one, populate, submit, populate, submit, populate and submit… That’s all you have to do. Just submit two to three a day. Then another option is if you want to do one a week, you would use the same process. It’s really up to you. When I first started, I was doing one a month. Then I said, “Okay, I want to do one every week.” Then I got down to one a day and then two to three a day. By doing only a few it appears as natural to the search engines. The last thing you want is to get in trouble with the search engines. If you do just a few per day, the search engines will love you and your rankings should continue to improve.

Now, because this is a long and tedious process, here are a couple of cool things you can do.
First of all, if you go to this website, ArticleSubmitterPro.com, you can actually get a copy of a program that’s going to help you literally cut down 50% of the time it would take for you to actually go and submit all of these articles to different article submission websites.

In fact, we’ve got a little case study from the Internet Article Guy, Jeff Herring. Basically, he’s been saying that, when he wants more traffic, he just writes more articles. When he wants more prospects, he writes more articles. When he wants to build his list, he writes more articles. In fact, you know, if he wants more subscribers, he writes more articles. And definitely, when he wants more customers, he writes more articles. I mean, you can’t really get any more brass tacks than that. But you know, basically what he’s trying to say here is that articles and content are the way to actually drive traffic to your website.

It’s not, all this crazy different stuff like “put a link here,” “put a link there.” It’s creating content and making sure it spreads all over the internet – that’s what wins!

So, there’s a bonus for Step 2, and I just wanted to let you know that in the A9 process, one of the key things is when you go to ArticleSubmitterPro.com, you get the program. The program actually has about, I think, 2,500 different article submission websites. And I know some people are thinking, “wow, if I spread it out to 2,500 websites, that’s going to be a lot of different places, and I might get penalized by the search engines for that much duplicate content.”

Well, I’d have to agree. So, I would suggest choosing around 60 different websites that’s going to actually maximize your traffic for this one step. What this will do is enable you to spread out your content far enough, but not too far that it’s going to hurt you. Really, submitting your articles to too many sites is not a good thing. But just enough (about 60) is good. So I’ve actually got a list of all the sites that we have chosen to submit all these articles to, and in fact, these are the sites that I actually use daily as well. If you plan to use this strategy, just ensure that the articles you are providing are helpful to your audience. Make sure you’re offering valuable information that will help them.

Posting your articles to these sites are the first step. But you’re not done yet. After you submit your articles to these sites you need to repost these articles on your own website. After I post my articles to my site I post them again on my blog, my myspace page, my squidoo lense and my other Web 2.0 social networking sites. These sites get a ton of traffic and are already ranked very well by the search engines so it’s a win-win by posting there.

After that I summarize the article and add that summary to an email to send to my list. Basically, I’m making that summary message number one of my autoresponder sequence. The full article will be accessed when my visitors click on the link I provide in the summary email. I do this over and over again with all of my articles – offering solid information to my list to ensure they continue to read my articles. But the best part of it all is that I can make money by leading them to my articles that have Google Adsense on it. That way I can make money even from my customers that don’t buy the products that I am promoting. It’s a very clever way to make money and I think everyone should be using this strategy. If you’re offering good, solid information, it’s always best to ensure you make money off of the majority of your visitors – even if they don’t buy.

So, if you’re not using articles to further monetize your site and draw in extra traffic you should start now! The interest in articles will never subside. People love knowledge and they are always looking for a way to take advantage of the information given to them. There’s no better or simpler way than providing articles to your list.

Submit some articles and begin to reap the rewards … with a little bit of work.
