What are meta tags and How important are they?

First off what are meta tags? Anyone who has a site or is exploring having one has probably heard this term before. Meta tags are used in html page headers. These tags contain information about specific keywords and descriptions of a web page. The search engines rely on meta tags so that they can properly catalogue your site. This allows users who are doing a search to easily find your site based on the keywords they enter into the search engine.

So, how important are these meta tags anyways?

They’re not as important as they used to be, but they do still have some importance. From a Google perspective – Yahoo, they actually still do work on Yahoo. But I will tell you, it does work better with Yahoo. Meta tags are fairly easy to do. Just go to your website, log in, go to your editor or website editor, whatever you’re using and right-click on the page. A lot of times it’ll pop up and say, “page properties.” Just click on the page properties. You can change your meta tags there. But it’s in that area when you right-click it. Actually, when you right-click on a web page and select page properties, you will see the title tag and a keyword tag. Those are meta-tags.

Meta tags were great back in the day because they helped search engines determine how to rank a certain site. When the engines' databases were small, this meta tag was a quick, easy way to help decide which keywords might be important on a site. However, certain people and especially spammers began to abuse meta tags by putting keywords into their tags that had nothing to do with a site’s content. You may have noticed this in the past when you inadvertently clicked on a link and were redirected to an unrelated site. This is commonly used by porn sites. You have no idea you’re entering one because there were unrelated keywords placed in there that leads to these types of sites. While manipulating the meta tags brought these sites more traffic, it also caused outrage among internet users.

So, in time meta tags lost their popularity and more of the search engines focus was placed on the actual content of a site. Meta tags are still used to index pages today, but more as a supplement to the copy on a page.

However, although they play a very minor role and many people don’t use them at all, it is not going to hurt you to use them on your own site if you so choose.

Warmest regards,

Matt Bacak

Blog for Rankings

When you create a blog it's a great way to express yourself and at the same time inform your audience what's going on. But it's also a great way to improve your rankings in the search engines. Let me explain.

If you want to get to the top because you're seeing your competition dominate you in your niche, it's time to take action!

So, let's just say you've submitted an article to an article directory site like ezinearticles.com but you were seeing someone else in your niche dominate you in the search engines. Well, it's time for you to knock them out of that top position and take over. How do you do this? It's simple!

If you want your article to appear at the top of the search engines all you have to do is blog that link! Basically, every article that you post to an article directory site like EzineArticles.com (which gets huge traffic I might add), you simply place a link to that article on your blog. For example, if it was www.Ezinearticles.com/adoption/how_to_adopt_a_child, because that's your niche, if that was your actual article, then you should go and blog that link. Whatever that link is where your article is located you blog the link. But just make sure when you do that you sound very natural in your recommendation for your visitors to visit that link. Whatever you do don't sound salesy or desperate to get the traffic.

Say something like: "Hey, check out these pages. I was doing a search on Google and I found these sites where people had posted information about me. I'm so flattered. You should go check them out." Basically what I did that for is not for people to go check them out – I really didn't care about that. What I did that for is so my sites would be pulled up higher in the search engines. So, when I did a search, I would be at the top of the search engines in my niche and my competition would fall in their rankings. This is an excellent strategy that has always worked for me. If you check out my blog at MattBacak.com you'll see several places where I've used this strategy... and it works like a charm!

So, go and find all the links out there that are indexed with Google. For any of your competition that has started to creep in on your space use this strategy to pull you up higher in the search engines. Your competition will have no idea what hit them ;)

Warmest regards,

Matt Bacak

“Tips and Tricks to Grow your Business”

Do you want to increase your business? The answer better be “yes”!

How are you doing your research and development? You need to look at how your competitors work in search engine optimization. You need to seek out programs like smart page that will help you utilize these victorious techniques.

A search engine is a big piece of software. If you put in the right answer to the questions that the search engines ask then you will get to the top of the search engines’ rankings. A smart page is a system that gives the search engines everything they want in a specific sequence that will move your website up to the top of the search engine rankings.

Now let’s look at testimonials. Testimonials can strengthen not only your marketing message, but your sales conversion. Testimonials are extremely powerful because they are comments from happy, satisfied customers. New customers are much more apt to believe happy customers than they are to believe your sales claims. So it is in your best interest to retain any testimonials you receive. Save those emails and phone call testimonials. You can use them in the future to promote your products.

What about Google? Google changes the rules constantly. Don’t always follow the rules. Break the rules and create your own rules. Your rules may or may not lead to success, but you will never know unless you try. This is the mentality behind the creation of smart pages. Smart pages constantly work to keep up with and use Google to its fullest advantage.

Use pre-promotion concepts. What are pre-promotion concepts? Let’s think about movies to demonstrate this concept. How do people promote movies? Movies don’t just appear out of thin air in the theatre one day. Instead, you will see trailers on TV and in the theatre that preview the movie. You will see the movie actors interviewed on talk shows. There will be publicity events to build anticipation for the release of the movie. This same pre-promotion strategy should be implemented in your Internet business.

How can you create anticipation? Let’s say that you are going to have a seminar. You can send out emails that preview the seminar. However, a very effective way to build anticipation for the seminar is to have teleseminars in the weeks leading up to the seminar. Have the speakers that will talk at the seminar speak on your teleseminars. Give teasers about what people will learn at the seminar. Give them a preview. Get them excited about the fact that the seminar date is approaching.

Do you have affiliate partners? You can send them teasers, offers, and emails about upcoming products. Get them excited about promoting your new product. Pretend that your product is a movie that is about to be released. Create hype about your product.

You have to spend money to make money. You have to invest in learning from the Internet gurus. Don’t skimp on learning the trade because you could lose out on millions of dollars. If you try to work through everything yourself then you up your chances of failing.

Warmest regards,

Matt Bacak

“SEO is NOT the quickest way to get website traffic.”

What is the quickest way to drive traffic to your website? Search engine optimization is not the quickest way to drive traffic to your website. You can use search engine optimization programs to drive traffic to your website, but it is not the fastest tool. SEO is not something that will bring traffic to your website overnight. It will take you months to realize the full benefits of search engine optimization.

In addition, search engine optimization is time consuming and labor intensive. Just when you think that you have figured out all the rules and tricks of search engines, they will change their rules on you. Therefore, SEO is beneficial, but not the best way to obtain traffic.

The quickest way to drive to your website is through pay-per-click advertising. The best program to use is Google AdWords. You can literally drive traffic to your website within five to ten minutes using Google AdWords.

How can you maximize your Google AdWords campaign? Set up your Google AdWords account. Then set up your keywords. Google has tools that enable you to create a huge number of keywords. You can dictate to Google how much money you are willing to spend on a daily basis. This will be the limit your spend on Google AdWords each day. You can modify this level at any time.

It is important to note that some keywords cost more than others because they have a higher value. Start of at $0.06 as your bid per keyword. $0.06 is one step higher than the minimum. This will let you win the keyword most of the time because the majority of people bid the keyword at the minimum level which is $0.05.

How much does a keyword bid really cost you? If you have 100 visitors to your website that you will pay $0.06 * 100 = $6.00. You will pay $6.00 to Google. However, let's say you earn $100 from these visitors because they buy your products. Your profit is then $100 - $6 = $94.

What about the higher bids per keyword? Let's say somebody bid a high $6 for a keyword. If they had a 100 visitors to their website through this keyword then they owe Google $600. Wow! They need to sell a huge number of high ticket items to make any profit.

The lesson is that you should know your numbers. Figure out how much you spend per keyword, how many people click on this keyword, and how many of these people actually buy your products. This way you can determine your profit, if any, and figure out if you are bidding the right amount in Google AdWords on the keyword or keywords.

Be careful about the keywords you choose. You are not in the business to have as much traffic come to your website as possible. You shouldn't care about the hit counter on your website. The key is to have as much "targeted" traffic as possible. Targeted traffic is much more likely to buy your products and that is the whole point, right? If you want to make money then it should targeted traffic should be your mantra.

Testing and tracking your business numbers should be ingrained in your psyche. Your Google AdWords program is no exception. Test and tweak the ads you run in Google AdWords. Test the words, grammar, and punctuation to see how it affects the click through rate and sales conversion. Google AdWords has tools that enable you to run split tests and figure out which ads are the most profitable.

“The Power of Back Links”

What is a back link? A back link is when another website links to your website. These other websites have links that point to your website. You should build back links to your website because the search engines love back links. All the search engines view back links to your website as votes for your website. The more back links you have, the more votes you have, the higher rank you will get from the search engines.

While back links are important, not all back links have the same value. Some websites are more valuable than others because they have a higher page rank in Google. If higher page rank websites back link to you then your ranking will soar. So you could actually have less back links, but they are of higher quality.

You can use the free keyword tool at http://www.wordtracker.com and Google to help you find high quality websites. You will find hundreds of different keywords and how much traffic they get each day. Target some of those keywords in this list. Then take one of those keywords and type it into Google.

Look at the organic (free) listings that are in the middle of the Google search engine results page. These are the websites that people are looking for when they type in these keywords. Look at the first three websites listed.

Go to http://www.marketleap.com and use the link popularity tool. It will show you all the back links to the websites that you have searched on. Contact these websites to see if they will do a link exchange with you.

The goal is to acquire as many links as you can from the high powered websites. You can link other websites to your articles and Blog. Also include a link to your website in the bio of the article. Your articles will be all over the Internet and provide many back links to your website.

“How to write effective articles”

Do you need to find freelancers to write articles for you? Then keep reading.

Places where you can find freelancers to write articles for you include:
Article Creation Place 1. http://www.topicauthors.com
Article Creation Place 2. http://www.articlemojo.com
Article Creation Place 3. http://www.therealarticlefactory.com
Article Creation Place 4. http://www.thephantomwriters.com
Article Creation Place 5. http://www.elance.com
Article Creation Place 6. http://www.guru.com

At these websites you may find people that are excellent writers and other people that have no writing skills at all. The key is to keep using these websites until you find writers that work well for you. Once you find the people you like then keep them happy. If they generate money for you then you want to keep them on your team. You need a team because you can't, and shouldn't, do every task yourself.

The more articles you have out in cyberspace, the more websites you will have that point back to your website. Articles are an excellent viral marketing technique.
Once you have found somebody to write your articles then you need to do the following with your articles…

The articles should be keyword rich. Some keywords are very competitive. In article marketing you don't want to go after the very competitive keywords. Why? Less competitive keywords will enable you to get your articles in the search engines quicker and easier. You can let everybody else fight for the popular keywords while you sneak in through the use of less popular keywords.

You will get better targeted traffic through less popular keywords. You will also have a higher rank in the search engines through these less popular keywords.

You should also figure out what people search for on the Internet each day. You can find out what keywords they search for at http://www.wordtracker.com . Word Tracker has a free keyword tool and a tool that you can pay for. You can find out how many people search on specific keywords each day.

Tip: You can also type in "Free Word Tracker Keyword Tool" into each search engines.
You don't want to go for the top tier keywords. Go for the second tier or bottom tier.

Also make sure that your article doesn't have more than two or three keywords in them. If you have more than three keywords, Google may view your article as being keyword stuffed. Google doesn't like keyword stuffed articles because a lot of times these kinds of articles don't make any sense and are only used to fool the search engines.

Put your keywords in the article early and often. Also in your bio make some of the keywords your anchor text of your URL. Google spotter will read that. Google spotter scans all the websites on the Internet to look for keywords.

“Want to drive massive amounts of traffic to your website?”

If you want to drive massive amounts of traffic to your website then you need to have fresh content. You can create a stream of fresh content by writing articles. The key is to submit articles with your domain name and bio line to different article directories.

The problem is that too many people find websites where they can buy private label articles. The problem with these articles is that hundreds of other people will be using the same articles. This means there will be duplicate content all over the Internet. Plus, the person who submits these articles to the Internet first is the winner. Everybody else will lose because they are submitting duplicate content.

You should submit articles constantly. Search engines are all about new, fresh, and original content. You can send visitors to your website through your article submissions. When you write original articles and submit these articles to directories then Google will take notice. New content for search engines is like food. Google is always searching for new content to index in their search engine.

The key is to write articles chock full of exceptional information. You should want the article readers to love your article so much that they put in on their website and/or Blog. You will earn traffic from these posts because your bio will be included in the article. The rule is that if people use your article then they have to include your bio as well.

If people don't put your bio with the article or claim the content as their own then you can go after them. You can have their website taken down if they do this to you.

There are two ways to get articles.
1: You can take time to write articles yourself, but this often takes too much time.
2: The smarter way is to outsource this task to freelancers. You can find several places that have freelancers who will write articles for you. You can pay $5-12 per article. The articles should be 300-700 words each.

Get started on writing your articles today.

“Lucrative PR Strategies for Internet businesses”

What PR strategy can you use now that will consistently earn you money? You can participate in the Google AdSense program. Google AdSense places related advertisements on your website. You earn money every time somebody clicks on these advertisements.

You can also max out the use of press releases. Sending press releases on a constant basis benefits you in so many ways. Press releases provide fresh content which search engines, such as Google, favor. These search engines will rank your website higher because of all the updated content.

It doesn’t matter what niche and industry you are in. There is always cutting edge, shocking, and new information coming out that would interest people in your niche. You can roll this information into your PR campaign to gain attention. You can also promote this same material offline.

Also seek out third party endorsements. Third party endorsements can skyrocket your success. For example, let’s say you wrote a book. If you get a celebrity or somebody to mention you and your book on a television show or in the newspaper then your popularity will soar. This will lead to a spike in sales.

The good news about third party endorsements is that they can spread quickly across the Internet. For example, people will Blog about you and/or discuss you in their forums. They will put information up about you on their website. All of these venues will have links that point directly back to you. This popularity will prompt your sales to increase dramatically. PR is that powerful.

Think about how you open up a brick and mortar store. When you open it up you advertise in as many locations and media as possible. For example, you put ads in the phone book, newspaper, television, billboards, etc. People tend to treat online businesses differently when they start them. For some reason they don’t think there are many areas to advertise their online business. This is a false belief. There are many more ways to advertise your online business in both the online and offline worlds.

If you really want to maximize the power of PR you could set up a website that consists of newsfeeds. For example, let’s say your niche is about guitars. You could set up a website that has news feeds about guitars. This would drive traffic to your website through updated content.

Another PR strategy is to have a question sheet that you can give to the media. The media, such as reporters and interviewers, don’t have the time to think of all the questions they can ask you. So provide them with a set of questions that they can ask you.

“Triple your Opt-In List in 99 Days – Part I”

How to build and triple your opt-in subscriber list in 99 days or less:

Step #1: Start with your passion. Use the “PIE” principle which is passion, interest, and expertise. You don’t have to be super fast or super smart to succeed in the world; you just have to be one step above the middle ground. This small increment will set you apart and on the road to success.

Step #2: Engage in market research. Go to Google and http://www.goodkeywords.com and http://www.wordtracker.com is a resource that will help you find information about niche.

Step #4: Name your list and make sure it is relevant to your product and niche.

Step #5: Write an attention grabbing tagline. This provides your unique selling proposition in your niche. Not sure how to write this? Think of 5-6 words that are beneficial in context and relate to your niche. These 5-6 words may be just want you need to create your tagline.

Tip: A short tagline is preferred at 7-10 words in length. Your tagline should demonstrate why your product or service is unique. Also make sure to convey that your product or service is the only solution to the customer’s problem so that they will automatically choose your product or service over your competitors.

Step #6: You have to capture the attention of your target market. You can accomplish this by writing a 15-30 description of the benefits of your product.

Tip: Your goal is to convert leads and prospects into paying customers.

Step #7: The fortune is in the follow up. You can follow up in a variety of manners. An example is to send a newsletter. Another example is to have an Autoresponder that sends follow up emails on a specific schedule. You can also send updates and announcement emails to your list as a means of follow up.

Tip: Autoresponder sequence.

Introduce yourself. Your customers need to know you, like you, and trust you in order to buy from you.

“Create a Lucrative Product in Just 5 Easy Steps”

Follow these steps to create a highly marketable and lucrative product for your Internet business:

Step #1: Research your market. Find out where your market is and go there.
Resource #1 for Marketing related products go to the website: http://www. gettingtraffic.com

Resource #2: For all niches, go to http://www.groups.google.com. You can find the newsgroups that relate to your niche. You would be amazed at how many online Google discussion groups are in your niche. These discussions forums are ripe ground for finding and researching your market.

You can create a product based on the problems presented in these news groups. For example, you can go into a nursing forum and identify problems. Then you can write an eBook called the “Nursing Survival Guide”.

Listen to your customer. Ask them what problems they have. Survey them as to what they look for in a product and what they are willing to pay. The key is to not guess what your customers want because you don’t know for sure. You need to hear it from their mouths to ensure that you create the right product.

Step #2: Get affiliates to market your product for you. The more affiliates you have working for you, the less you have to do. You can make huge amounts of cash using affiliates.

Step #3: Define your solution. Outline it and write it down.

Step #4: Define your budget. How much are you willing to spend? You don’t have to spend a lot of money.

Step #5: Following are great resources to use.
Outsourcing:

Software Creation:
http://www.scriptlance.com
http://www.rentacoder.com
http://www.elance.com

Consulting:
http://www.keen.com. You can become an instant consultant overnight and charge people to call you.

All of these websites are a reverse auction. The bidders are freelancers so they bid the lowest price so they can get the project you post. Plus, you can post your budget. You can set a maximum price that you will accept. It is up to you. In addition, you will have freelancers bid on your projects immediately. So it is a very quick way to find someone to outsource your jobs to.

Are you nervous about hiring a freelancer? On these websites you can read the feedback about the freelance provider. This will help you determine whether or not you want to hire them for the project.

Tip: Never take the first bid. Make sure you evaluate several bid options before you make a decision.

Tip: Make sure the bidder has done a similar project before. You need to know that they understand how to make your product through experience. You don’t want to be their guinea pig.

Tip: Post to more than one freelance website. You may find the same quality of people, but at a lower cost.

Tip: Have a definite date of completion for your product. Make sure the freelancer knows this date and will stick to it, no excuses.

Tip: The first line of your project posting should be “This is a very simple project for anybody that knows what they are doing.” This helps you to get a lower bid.

“How to Create Highly Profitable Product”

Think you need years of experience and education in order to create high profit products? Think again. You can create your own high profit products with absolutely no experience. This can be accomplished if you have the knowledge of the steps necessary to achieve this goal.

Let’s start with this question - Have you had an idea for something, but it was too complicated to create? For example, you may have an idea for a software program, but don’t know how to write computer code. You know how you want it to work, but don’t know the technical specs behind it.

So how can you create and build this highly profitable product? Follow these steps:

First step: Ask yourself - Why should you create a product?

Reasons include:

1. You want to make money. You aren’t looking for friends; you’re looking for cold, hard cash.

2. You want to create a brand name and/or you want to be recognized.

3. You want to create an opt-in list based on the product.

4. You want to capitalize on current trends in the marketplace. Essentially, you are creating a product that is going to solve the problem that people have. This problem is fluid and can change on a daily basis, especially since the Internet links the entire world in real time.

The good news is that you don’t have to know how to make a product because you can hire people to create the product for you. For example, for your software product you can hire a computer programmer that will write the code for you. You pay them a fee, but you will recoup this fee and much, much more so it is worth outsourcing the job to a professional.

Now let’s look at your Internet business website:
How many other websites are linked to you? This gives you your link popularity. Google looks at the number of sites that are linked to you. Don’t forget to look at the link popularity of your competitors. How many sites do they have linked to them?

Don’t forget your Opt-In List:
You can create an opt-in list on the page that sells your product. This opt-in list enables you to sell more of your other products to the subscriber.

So outsource the creation of your product and tweak your Internet business. This will lead to the victory of a highly profitable product.

Warmest regards,

Matt Bacak

“Two Amazingly Powerful Ways to Drive Traffic to your Squeeze page”

Do you know the basics of getting customers to buy products from you? You have to create a squeeze page. You have to drive traffic to your squeeze page. You can offer a free CD that customers can get if they only pay the cost of shipping and handling. After they buy the free CD, you get the customer on the phone and up sell to them.

Let’s go back to driving traffic to your squeeze page. What are some ways to accomplish this? The three ways are to write articles, use Google Adwords, and to participate in joint ventures.

Let’s take a look at articles. You can write your articles which will cost you time. You may want to outsource this job to Freelance Writers on Elance.com. How much will it cost you to write and submit these articles?

Let’s look at the Elance numbers:
I’ve found that the average cost to have 3 articles written is $131. So $43.92 per articles.

Then to get each article submitted you will have to pay $20/article. This submits articles to 152 locations. This is done by hand.

Or you can use Article Submitter Pro software where it sends the article to 800 locations which takes the same amount of time. So using this software is in your best interest.

You should set the follow goals regarding your articles:
1. Get 10 articles written as written as soon possible. This will cost approximately $439. + $20 * 10 articles = $639.
2. Get 100 articles written as soon possible. This will cost approximately $4390 + $2000 = $6,390

Why is it so critical to send out 100 articles? When you submit articles, they are not only submitted to the article locations you submit to, but people who are also looking for content will find your article. These articles can be copied onto their website, if they include your bio and link. This is viral marketing and will get your name all over the Internet at no extra work.

Articles are amazing. They get passed around the Internet over and over. So you get a lot of bang for your buck.

The next way to drive traffic to your website is through Google AdWords.
Let’s look at my numbers of the 6 month average for his company. Max cost per click was 20cents. Click through rate was 1.1. You want to shoot for a click through rate of 3 and higher.

Spent approximately $15,000 over 6 months. Average placement was #4 on Google. Average conversion rate was 8.4%. Average squeeze person cost $1.87.
Each month spent $2,518 on Google AdWords which brought in l,586 subscribers per month.

But what about the free CD page? It is converting at 25-28%. This means that we get 336 buyers from this free CD page. So we make a lot of money off of each free CD. Plus, these people buy a lot more of our products.

Basically, the money that I invest in my marketing always comes back to me and then some. You have to spend money to make money. Put your money in marketing and then reinvest back into marketing to make every more profit.

Matt Bacak

“An Example of a Sales Call”

You know that getting your customer on the phone can lead to selling bigger ticket items. But what do you say when you have them on the phone? Following is an example phone call to give you an idea of how you can apply it to your sales calls.

The phone calls are usually 1 to 1 hour 30 minutes. People will tell you that they only have “X” minutes like 20 to 30 minutes. If you are generally interested in solving their problem then time doesn’t matter. If you really engage them and sell great information then time is not an issue. So don’t tell them it’s going to be an hour right away or they become defensive.

Example: How to sell a SEO home study course.

Sales Person: So you’ve got a website. What is the reason you want to have this phone call with me today?

Customer Answer: I’ve put a lot of money into the website.

Sales Person: So you think SEO will help right?

Customer Answer: Yes, because then I’ll drive up my placement in search engines.

Sales Person: You want to get traffic to your website to sell more stuff? This will make you more money? Why else do you want it?

Customer Answer: To make money for my family.

Sales Person: So tell me about your family…

Customer Answer: I make about $3,000 per month.

Sales Person: How much per month do you want to make? Be specific.

Customer Answer: $10 - $20,000 per month in 5 months.

Sales Person: What would this new money allow in your life?

Customer Answer: My family could go on vacation. I’d have financial freedom.

Sales Person: So you see SEO as helping you achieve this money? What do you know about SEO?

Customer Answer: (Let them explain what they know about SEO.)

Now it’s time for the sales person to paint a pretty picture about how SEO is supposed to work. Give an ideal situation about being the #1 placement on Google. This would lead to more sales which lead to more money which leads to financial freedom and a happy family.

Sales Person: So how do you think you achieve this in SEO?

Customer Answer: I don’t know.

The sales person then explains how their SEO home study course can help customer achieve the ideal situation.

Customer: I’m ready to buy!

“How to Create a Product to Sell – Part II”

You’ve accomplished the first three steps by repurposing content, beginning with the end in mind, and filling out your order form. Congratulations! But you aren’t done yet. What are the next steps you need to take to create a product to sell?

Following are step #4 through step #6:

Step #4: Layout your product so you know what is going to be included and what it is going to look like. How can you do this? Try this exercise: Imagine that we’re sitting in a room and you have an hour to teach me about your subject. But before you begin, I’ll step out of the room for 20 minutes while you prepare. So write out the bullet points you want to cover during this preparation time. Then when I come back in the room you have an hour to present the bullet points.

Tip: Remember, you need to start off by telling them who you are and why they should listen to you.

Step #5: You need to have some kind of software to capture your audio. The cheapest, fastest, and easiest way is to have Sony Sound Forge Studio (Price: $70-$100). This program works very well and is user friendly. It is as easy to use as Microsoft Word. It let’s you edit it easily so if you goof up, you can edit out the mistakes.

You can also find free versions of audio software. Go on Google and Google “Audacity”. This is a free program that is similar to Sony Sound Forge. The only difference is that Audacity is in an .aud format which is not .mp3 or .wav format. So you’ll have to convert it by exporting it as an mp3 or .wav file.

You also need a microphone. Microphones range in price up to thousands of dollars. You can use a headset microphone for only $30. It is up to you. The important thing is to have a headset microphone so you can have your hands free. You also want a “USB” connection to your computer. You get a lot better sound if it is a USB port as opposed to the old fashioned microphone connection.

Tip: Check out www.internetaudioguy.com for these resources.

Step #6: Record your product’s audio or video portions. Sometimes your products are video tapes of your events or giving tours through your office. Or if you are demonstrating an exercise then a video is necessary.

Do you want to demonstrate things on your computer? Then great software to use is Camtasia Studio which lets you capture what is on your computer and narrate while you are doing it. It has great tutorials to help you out.

Tip: You can get these resources at www.techsmith.com for $400.

When recording audio, record chapter by chapter. Don’t try to have the entire book in one audio file.

Matt Bacak

“Link Tips to Increase your Google Ranking”

An Internet business relies on website traffic. They find ways to drive traffic to their website from joint ventures to Google AdWords. This traffic provides a bounty of potential customers leading to sales. Another powerful method that drives traffic to your Internet business website is using links. Following is a list of link tips that not only increase the amount of traffic to your website, but can increase the quality of the traffic as well.

Link Tip #1: Always put several links to your website in the emails you send out. The goal of these emails is to get people to take action and go to your website. Provide clickable links at the top, middle, and in the P.S. at the end of the email. These links help train people to go to your website. Plus, having links in your email shortens the length of the email. This is easier on the eyes and attention span of the email reader. Essentially, you have short content in the email and then full content can be found when they click on the link and go to your website.

Link Tip #2: The “right” links can be powerful. Find websites that have a high page rank and relate to your website. Obtain a link from these websites to increase your ranking Google. Basically, you want to have high page rank sites that are related to your website pointing to you. For example, if you have a dog training website then you don’t want to have an Internet marketing site pointing to you. Instead, you want a site about dog shows pointing to you. Quality links are very, very important.

Do you follow these two link tips? Some people falsely believe that quantity is better than quality. For example, they have a page full of links and not much content. The links may or may not come from Google high page ranked sites. The links may or may not relate to their website. These many low quality unrelated links can actually hurt them as search engines love related content and quality links.

Analyze the links on your website. See how you can modify them to increase your rank in Google.

Matt Bacak

“The Google - Duplicate Content Debate”

Many people believe that content is king on the Internet. This is a true statement. That’s why your Internet business should strive to find ways to put content on the Internet. You can also enjoy further mileage out of content by repurposing the same content in different formats. For example, you send out articles, post to your Blog, and send out emails through your Autoresponder.

There has been a debate recently where some people believe that any duplicate content will hurt your placement in Google. They say that if each article that you send out is not completely unique then you have no power in your Google placement and Google Quality Score will suffer. In fact, these people claim that duplicate content is defined as any content that has 2 or more identical sentences.

Before you take this belief to heart, it is important to know that it may or may not be true. Google changes its “rules” about content, keywords, etc. often. Just when you learn how to maximize their current system, it changes and you have to adapt.

So will duplicate content actually hurt you? Let’s forget about Google’s rules for a moment. Take a look at news sources. When a big story breaks several news stories often have the exact same headline and story details. For example, CNN and MSN both could post the same headline and details. Another example is when a press release is sent out to all media. They post the same details from the press release. This is duplicate content, but is very valid. From this perspective, duplicate content is a way of life.

So yes, you can recycle content by posting it to various websites and article directories. Don’t bog yourself down with worrying about Google. Remember, they like to change the rules all the time.

With that in mind, make sure that for your articles you submit, submit, and submit! Top Internet marketing gurus submit 2 articles per day. They made it a habit. It’s a habit that pays off big time in new subscribers and sales.

When you submit your articles to many websites and article directories you will have “duplicate” content all over the Internet. Don’t worry about Google because Google doesn’t pick up every single one of your articles anyway. Other search engines will pick up your articles.

Essentially, your articles will be in many different places on the web. People will still see your articles, read them, and go to your website. You will still get credibility from the articles. There are hardly any other strategies more viral than articles so keep sending them out.

“FAQ’s about Autoresponders – Part Two”

Still have questions about Autoresponders? Following are another set of frequently asked questions about Autoresponders. These answers may help you solve a problem or fine tune the way you use Autoresponders.

Autoresponder Question: Here’s my situation. I am changing the way I create my website so that I now use FrontPage. The Question is – Should I start creating a squeeze page before this transfer? If so, when a client signs up on my squeeze page where will their name and email go?

Answer: Yes, it is fine to create a squeeze page before the transfer. If a client subscribes to your list through your squeeze page then their name and email will go to your Autoresponder. Your Autoresponder is a separate program from your website. Therefore, the name and email will always go into your Autoresponder because it is linked to your hosting account.

Autoresponder Question: Here’s my situation. I use several squeeze pages, each of which has their own tracking tag. The question is – Do the client emails from all of these squeeze pages go into the same Autoresponder, but still keep their appropriate tracking tag?

Answer: Yes

Autoresponder Question: If you have several squeeze pages with unique tracking tags, will they all give the same thank you page in the Autoresponder?

Answer: Yes, unless you set up separate thank you pages for each tracked squeeze page. For example, you can have a thank you page that thanks somebody from coming from “Google” or “Yahoo”, etc. However, this can be very time consuming. It might be a lot easier to just have one thank you page that promotes you and your business. Does it really matter if you thank them for where they came from or just the fact that they are there?

Just thank them and move onto selling and promotion.

Autoresponder Question: Is the List-Opt website worth it? Does it work?

Answer: The List-Opt website has produced various results for different Internet businesses. Some Internet businesses have found success with it while others have had mediocre or poor results. You just have to try it out for yourself and see how it goes.

“The Muscle of Classified Internet Ads”

Have you mastered the art of press releases? Do you want another commanding tool that will drive traffic to your website? Then get ready to try something that will increase your website traffic through classified Internet ads. Classified Internet ads should be used in addition to press releases.

So what are the advantages of classified Internet ads? First of all, classified Internet ads are easy to search for. This means that when an Internet user types in keywords into Google your classified Ad will be found very easily. One beneficial side effect of being more searchable is that your ranking in Google will shoot to the top. Google’s web crawlers will find your classified Internet ad quickly and give you prime placement in their search engine listings.

Classified Internet ads allow you to have more copy then a traditional ad in print. This means that you can say more with your ad, but keep the costs minimal or free. This is not true in print media where you often pay per word or number of lines.

Classified Internet ads give you instant publicity. You can quickly publicize your website to the world. Plus, you can place classified Internet ads for free. Free publicity and exposure is extremely powerful.

Classified Internet ads can also be more than just an ad. For example, you can find classified Internet ad services that allow you to create a profile and accompanying website. Just think – a website that you can create easily and for free! You just have to be aware of any rules of the classified Internet ad websites you use. For example, sometimes you have to update your classified ad every few months.

So where can I run a classified Internet ad? There are several websites you can use. Try www.hoobly.com.

What should I include in the copy for a classified Internet ad? Your classified Internet ad should capture a reader’s attention. Use your top producing keywords. At the bottom of the ad make sure to include your contact information and website link.

“Top Spot on Google? You can grab it!”

What search engine do you think is the most popular search engine today? Is it MSN, Yahoo, or Google? If you answered “Google” then you are correct. Google is the search engine that millions of Internet users turn to everyday. People use Google to find information that answers their question or problem.

Let’s say that you run a website in a niche area. You want people to find your website and services through Google. You have created a website, but haven’t seen much traffic. The key to an increase in traffic is to get your website in front of these Google users.

People who search on Google usually only click on the first few links. Often only the first link in the search engine results. Why? For one reason, many people think that the top ranked listing has the most credibility. They believe that the top listing has the highest status in the niche. So you want to make sure that your website is listed at the top of Google.

You can kick up your website to the top of Google by sending out press releases. Press releases are an extremely effective online marketing tool. However, the press releases you write are going to be different then the press releases of times gone by. In online press releases, your keywords are what make the difference between success and failure. Every word you put in the press release should be a keyword.

Press releases have distinct advantages in that they give you instant credibility. You would be surprised by who contacts you after seeing your press release. You may be asked to be interviewed on a popular TV show or news show. Basically, the media will initiate contact with you instead of you pounding the pavement trying to line up media gigs.

Press releases drive massive amounts of traffic to your website. Remember, your press release is based off of keywords and new content. And what do Internet search engine crawlers love? The answer is keywords and updated content. So you should send out press releases all the time!

Send out press releases today and watch your Google ranking increase by tonight!

“Ditch the Yellow Pages – NOW!”

Is old media failing? Think about this question – Do you use the telephone yellow pages or Google to search for information? More and more people are using Internet search engines to find information. Plus, you can track where your leads come from by using an Internet search engine. Print material, such as the yellow pages, doesn’t help you track where your leads come from.

The popularity of radio is also failing. Many people only listen to radio while they are in their car. Therefore, they aren’t able to write any of your content and/or contact information down.

Don’t ditch old media entirely, but be aware that new media can be more powerful. New media gives users more control. People can fast forward commercials and peruse websites at their leisure. Whereas in the old days people had to sit and listen to the TV news without any input on their part.

50 million people turn to the Internet everyday for news. 45% of TV advertisers are looking to do online advertising because it is more effective and they can track their leads. The return on investment is higher through Internet media.

What is new media marketing? It is conversation marketing versus interrupted marketing. Interrupted marketing of the past was when commercials interrupt the TV program you are watching. You have no control. New media marketing, on the other hand, enables people to discuss niches and topics on the Internet through discussion boards. There is a sense of community and trust that is built in your niche. People can give their input and opinions.

People do business with those that they know, like, and trust. If you are passionate and love what you do then you can communicate this through your audio and video Blogs and podcasts. By watching your video Blogs people will feel like they know you. You become a trusted friend that recommends products and services that solve their problems.

What Blog program is the best? WordPress is the recommended Blog program to use. WordPress is free. It is by far the best Blogger software on the market right now. Everyone online can read, hear, and watch content you write with your Blog. You are educating your subscribers. Audio and video builds trust faster than any other type of media.

“Unleash the Power of Blogs”

New media marketing such as Blogs should be an integral part of your Internet marketing plan. Internet technology changes rapidly and you need to keep pace with new advancements in technology. Old media including radio, television, and print are not going to go away, but you shouldn’t focus on this old media alone. You should be the dominator of your niche with a Blog, podcasting, and audio and video Blogs.

A Blog was originally just text and pictures. However, now they encompass text, images, audio, and video. The best blogging program to use is WordPress.

Blogs allow you to instantly communicate through text, pictures, audio, and video. You can Blog in any niche possible. Blogging doesn’t require a webmaster. Blogs enable you to create worldwide relationships. You can share your information instantly. Blogging enables you to be found more easily by the search engines. Search engines love it when you update your content. You can update your Blog as often as you like therefore increasing your visibility in the search engines.

Blogs and webpages are the same technology. However, for a Blog you don’t need a webmaster and you don’t have to know web design. Blog comes from the word Weblog otherwise known as an online journal.

People can instantly receive your Blog updates by RSS feeds. When you update your Blog your RSS subscribers will be informed. Blog software is free. However, transmitting audio and video will only cost you pennies on the dollar.

Why are newsreaders, aggregators, and iTunes important?
RSS stands for “Real Simple Syndication”. It enables software like newsreaders to download your content (text, images, audio, and video) every time you update it. It is an automated notification system. Aggregators and iTunes are the equivalent to a radio and TV on the Internet. These programs enable people to listen and watch your podcasts and video Blogs.

Every search engine, such as Google, has a newsreader which makes it simple for people to access your Blog and podcasts. They access it through these websites. This is much better then sending items through email. Why? Because email is stopped by spam filters more and more these days. This gives you power to put your content in people’s hands quickly.

Internet Explorer 7 has a one click subscription to Blog. This is a recent development. People can subscribe to a Blog feed easily with one click. This feature is great news for your Blog. This feature enables you to build a following of people that like you and your Blog.

ITunes has one click subscriptions as well. People can find your Blog in iTunes. They can then subscribe to your Blog. You can’t get into iTunes unless you have a podcast and a Blog. ITunes is free.

ITunes allows you to use audio and video. iPods are popular. People can download your podcasts and Blogs to their iPods to watch and listen to when they want.

Even Tivo on your TV can subscribe to your Blog feed!

Essentially, you have the same reach as old media, but for just pennies on the dollar.

“Classified Internet Ads – A Best Kept Secret”

Sending out press releases on the Internet is an extremely powerful tool in more ways than one. Press releases will increase the rank of your website in Google. This is due to the fact that press releases provide new content and each word is viewed as a keyword.

The basic components of a press release are as follows:

IV. Lead paragraph – provides the “hook”. The hook is an attention grabbing statement that prompts you to keep reading.

V. Body – Who, What, Where, Why, and When.

VI. Company boiler plate. Give your company information, product/services information, etc.

VII. Contact information – Name, phone number, email address, and website address.

“How to put your website in the top of Google in 30 days or less”

Google is the top search engine on the World Wide Web today. People swarm to the Internet to find information. They could be looking for information, services, and products that your Internet business provides. Is your Internet website visible in the top listings in the search engine results? If not then you need to shoot your website to the top. Otherwise, Internet searchers/potential customers may never find you or your business.

So how can you jump to the top of Google quickly and easily? Harness the power of press releases. Writing press releases applies to any type of business that you do on the Internet. It is a method that both novice and experienced Internet business owners can use to their benefit.

What is a press release? The old definition of a press release is “It is communication directed at the news media that has newsworthy value. The aim is to attract media attention.”

However, on the Internet a press release is a “ticket” to put you at the top of Google. Anybody can write a press release.

What can a press release service do for you? “Email wire” is a great press release service to use. It goes to 70,000 journalists and 22,000 news rooms. Plus, it goes to over 100,000 Internet websites. Your press release will pop up on several major news sites.

Press releases build awareness for your online marketing. It builds awareness of your products, services, and anything you want. Whatever you see or hear each day can be turned into a press release. Press releases are a great way to stand out and differentiate you and your business.

Search engine crawlers read your press release. They consider each word of your press release as a keyword. So put as many keywords in your press release as you can.

Tip: It is critical to note that you use press releases differently than you did in the past.

Press releases also give you instant credibility. For example, CNN Money and Bloomberg news may contact you based on your press release. They will view you as an expert in your field. You no longer have to wait for the media to contact you and establish your credibility. By being proactive and sending out your own press release you create your own credibility immediately.

Press releases bring traffic to your website. Traffic brings in sales which bring in money. Start writing a press release right now! Send them out on a consistent basis and revel in the increased sales.

“SEO rules have changed. Do you know the new rules?”

Did you know that traffic generation from a SEO operation doesn’t work anymore because Google has changed? The changes just happened in the last few months on Google. In order to make the most money you need to understand these changes.

Why should I make SEO priority? In one month 6.7 billion searches were done on search engines. Every day motivated buyers use search engines to find and buy products online. Over 200 million searches per day are made through Google. That is an immense amount of traffic.

If you can learn how to rank high on the search engines then you will increase quality traffic to your website. Superior rankings equal quality targeted traffic. If you don’t get this traffic then your competitors will scoop it up.

How much money are you losing if you don’t have a high Google search engine ranking? How much of this money has your competitor snatched?

How can you flood your website with high quality, responsive traffic for free? The answer is search engine optimization. The purpose of SEO is to improve your ranking in the search engine results. A superior ranking in the major search engines is the best way to bring quality visitors to your website.

Google is the top search engine. You can also use Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Two types of SEO:
1.) On page optimization.
This is SEO that you do right on your website. You modify code directly on your site. This is what you say about your website (text, copy, links, keyword density in copy and headline, metatags, etc.) On page optimization used to be the primary place to work to obtain superior rankings in the search engine listings.

The page title is the number one on page factor that you need to focus on.
Page title tips:
• Limit the length of your page title of 65 characters or less.
• Incorporate keyword phrases into your page title.
• Grab the searchers attention.
• Each page should have a unique page title.
• Repeat your title tag in your H1 tags.
• Your title is the link that is shown in the search results of the search engine such as Google.
• Focus on click through rates and conversion rates.

However, there are problems with on page optimization. If you want to rank for something people tend to exaggerate or lie to get traffic. This caused the results in the search engine to differ from the actual websites. Google knew this was a problem. Therefore, Google decided to focus on off page optimization.

2.) Off page optimization.
This has to do with what others say about your website. Google has determined that what others say about your website is more credible that what you say. These other people act as a credible referral.

Links are critical and Google measure your links. This gives Google a way to measure what your site is about. Incoming links count as a vote to determine the relevancy and popularity of your site. An incoming link is a link from another site to your site.

Examples of links include:
• Blog post links
• Press release links
• Social network links
• Text links
